Vegan Easter Treats with MyProtein

Thursday, April 09, 2020
Easter is right around the corner and that means one thing, sweet treats! Easter eggs were the highlight of April growing up and I always received so many from my parents, aunties and cousins but I don't have a demanding sweet tooth so chocolate wasn't ever a treat for me (now, if it's Haribo, that's a different story) so we always had Easter egg remnants until the summer! However, I've found so many heavenly vegan sweet treats that I love from MyProtein.

I was very kindly sent a few of their vegan products to try out, from their peanut butter and cookies to pea protein snack bars. I tried a few of their products back in 2015 but this is my first experience of their vegan range. As well as the products I'll be reviewing in today's post, their vegan range also includes protein shakes and supplements as well as a variety of whole foods such as nuts, seeds and dried fruit.
*MyProtein My Vegan Baked Double Chocolate Cookies (£16.99)
Let's start with my favourite product from MyProtein, their baked double chocolate cookies. I've tried a few variations of protein bars and protein cookies and if I'm honest, I hated them! The bars and cookies I've tried have a strange aftertaste and they aren't very sweet at all but thankfully these are so delicious! As well as satisfying my sweet tooth (which I only really have for brownies and cookies), they contain 13g of protein and only 289 calories per cookie.

I have been eating my way through the 12 pack I was kindly sent since I received them as they make great desk snacks - if you follow me on Instagram (@ofbeautyand), you'll have already seen these products on my stories. They are a little grainy and slightly dry but they are very rich, chocolatey and sweet enough to fulfil my cravings. They are currently on sale at £12.84 for a pack of 12 bars in the MyProtein Easter sale and I will be buying a box in the future!

*MyProtein Protein Square - Choc Berry (£19.99)
Another pack of protein bars to consider as a healthy sweet treat this Easter are the 'choc berry' protein squares which contain 12g of protein per bar and they are also high in fibre. I'm not a huge fan of chocolate and fruit combinations so I wasn't sure about these bars but they contain raspberries and that's a chocolate combination I utterly adore! While these bars aren't my favourite of the three I've tried from MyProtein, I'd still recommend them as healthy on the go or work snack.
*MyProtein Vegan Carb Crusher Bar - chocolate peanut butter (£23.99)
The final snack bar for today's post is perfect for those who, like me, love the combination of sweet and savoury or salty food. There are three flavours to choose from including chocolate orange, chocolate sea salt and the flavour I have, chocolate peanut butter which is the perfect flavour of me! The chocolate peanut butter 'carb crusher' bars contain gooey caramel, crispy soy protein nuggets, cocoa powder, sea salt and pretzels which makes a very unusual snack bar - I've tried so many snacks bars but this one is quite unique.

I love the textures in the bar especially the crunchy pretzels on top! As I've said, I don't have a huge sweet tooth and I don't crave sweet treats very often so this bar is ideal for me as it helps to curb those sweet cravings but it is still fairly savoury and salty. I think the double chocolate cookie is my favourite of the three but this one is a very close second!
*MyProtein All Natural Smooth Peanut Butter (£6.49)
Last but definitely not least, one of my favourite ingredients ever, peanut butter. I love peanut butter on toast, within snack bars, as a dip for apple slices, in porridge and within Thai peanut noodle dishes, the latter is definitely my favourite way to use peanut butter. Smooth peanut butter is my go-to so this whole box of goodies was absolutely perfect!

As well as the variety of protein powders and snack bars, there's a good range of 'whole foods' or ingredients that you can use to make snacks, meals or enjoy on their own such as cashews, dried blueberries and peanut butter. Peanut butter can be a little expensive so I think this price is fantastic and it gets even better as it is currently part of their Easter sale which features a selection of products that are up to 65% off (use the code: EXTRA to get an added 25% off).

Have you tried anything from MyProtein? What sweet treats will be you enjoying this Easter weekend?
