September Degusta Box

I have tried a few beauty subscription boxes and one snack subscription box but nothing like Degusta Box! Degusta Box is a monthly food subscription box in which you will receive between 9 to 14 items, many of which are new. Unlike other subscription boxes the Degusta website makes the subscription process and days when the money will be taken from your account very simple and easy - before you subscribe. The best thing...it is only £12.99 per month which is incredible value for money in my opinion considering the size and amount of items in the box! 

Here is what I received in my *September Degusta Box (£12.99, including postage): Pick Up Biscuits (x2), Little Miracles Organic Energy Drinks (x2), Carnation Cook With It Cream (x2), Burts Lentil Waves (x3),  Crabbies Zesty Lemon (alcoholic), Zeo Citrus Drink, Jordans Crunchy Baked Oats Granola and the La Vieja Fabrica Marmalade. 

I have already finished the Burts salted and sour cream and chive lentil waves - they are so delicious and moreish! The Little Miracles green tea drink is also gorgeous, I can't wait to try the lemongrass tea version. Breakfast for me is usually noodles or pasta (unusual I know) but I have been loving the Jordans granola instead, it is filling and far healthier than creamy pasta! I personally don't like marmalade or jam so my mum has the La Vieja Fabrica Marmalade and she said it was delicious. 

Overall, I am so impressed with Degusta Box, I didn't expect to receive so many items in my box and such as great range. Also a lot of the items were quite healthy such as the tea drinks, granola and lentil waves all of which I LOVE! I would definitely recommend Degusta Box based on my experience and I think it would make a great gift for students or foodies!

DegustaBox: Summer 2017

Back in 2014 I tried the September Degusta subscription box which is a monthly food and snack box (£12.99) and loved it so I'm happy to be working with DegustaBox again! Each months box contains between 10 to 15 food, drink and snack items which I think is fantastic considering the low price and if you use the discount code KVAA2 it will make the box only £5.99 instead of £12.99.

I have the summer themed box and it contains nine separate items but I'm very lucky in that as I'm a brand ambassador I get to receive and try extra items too! The products within the summer box range from cereal and snacks to drinks and cooking ingredients with prices varying between £4.99 to 99p. The item total for this box is over £20 which is much more than the price of the box, especially if you use the discount code above!

*Thor Dry Apple Spritz Sparkling Drinks

I'm visiting Norway next month so it was a strange coincidence that I received two delicious drinks named after a norse god! I adore the packaging and even though I don't usually drink sparkling and carbonated drinks very often, I loved these! They are both so refreshing and perfect for summer. I've been drinking them both in the garden while the weather has been so sunny and warm. I think the mint flavour is my favourite of the two but they are both definitely worth looking out for.

*OLOVES Healthy Olive Snacks (99p each) 

I'm a sucker for packaging and these look amazing! I'm actually not a fan of olives but my mum loves them so she has taken these to work as a snack at lunchtime as working in a school and running after children is very tiring! She really liked these, they taste great and they are a perfect size to add into your bag or a lunch box! They are a perfect low calorie, healthy snack and they're suitable for vegans.

*Maille Dijon Original Mustard (£1.99)

The leaflet that explains all of the items in the box also has a couple of recipe ideas too and one of which involves this product (I love that there are recipe ideas using products from the box!) and while it isn't vegetarian, I know my dad would love to try the recipe. I don't like mustard on anything but within cheese pie - my auntie makes a delicious and probably extremely calorific cheese pie and she always adds mustard to I'm going to attempt to make my own with this and I think it would be amazing!

*Ryvita Thins - Three Cheese Flatbreads (£1.89)

Most of the items in this box would be great snacks or ingredients to make up a summer picnic and these flatbread crackers would be perfect on their own or with a dip. I've been eating them with my vegan ranch dip (cashew cream, fresh dill, oat milk, garlic, salt/pepper and apple cider vinegar) and they are so good. The flatbread crackers are so moreish and cheesy but they are surprisingly low in calories and contain a good amount of fibre.

*Rowntree's Randoms Sweets (£1.29) - product of the month

I really wanted to try these but they contain gelatine which I can't eat as I'm a vegetarian but myself and two friends went on a mini road trip to Chester a couple of days ago (which you will have seen on my Instagram Stories if you follow me there - you'll have also seen this DegustaBox unboxing too) so they ate these sweets and loved them.

*Weetabox Additions Coconut & Raisin (£2.99)

I used to have Weetabix regularly growing up but recently I've been opting for less healthy carb heavy breakfasts which aren't the best option so I was very glad to find this new and healthy breakfast cereal in the summer box. Now, coconut and raisin sounds like a very odd combination but actually I love it! I've been topping two of the Weetabix blocks with oat milk, maple syrup, banana and cinnamon dusted seeds for breakfast and I'm loving it so much!

*Frylight Cooking Spray with Avocado Oil (£2.99)

We were actually using the olive oil version before this one arrived and now I've switched to this new option. They are one calorie cooking sprays that are quick and easy to use; they make me use far less oil while cooking than a traditional bottle of olive oil. They're well worth buying as a healthier and easier option especially as one bottle lasts for ages.

*Merchant Gourmet Simply Cooked Red & White Quinoa (£1.99)

I am a big fan of quinoa but it is a pain to cook as it needs rinsing multiple times and cooking for a while; also I find I always overcook it so it's mushy and no one wants that! A pre-cooked packet of quinoa is a great addition to this box as it's so easy to add into anything from salads to a soup or as a replacement for rice or cous cous. I've added mine to salads with green beans, asparagus, rocket and lots of vegetarian parmesan *drools*.

*Blossom Hill Spritz Raspberry & Blackcurrant (£4.99)

I may be in my early to mid twenties but I don't actually drink often - I only tend to drink at blogger events or celebrations and even then only minimally so I will be saving this for a girls night in with friends or for a couple of birthdays that I have coming up this summer. It sounds like something I'd like as I love anything containing raspberries! This product is included in the alcohol version of the DegustaBox only and there are two flavours that you could receive.

*Crafted Mango and Passionfruit Drink (£1.80)

When I think of summer in terms of food and drink, I think of picnics in the sun (with bees flying around everywhere), salads, fresh smoothies and chilled fruit drinks. Mango and passionfruit are two of my favourite summer fruits so this juice drink is perfect! It's so delicious, summery, refreshing and the perfect drink while read in the garden or to add into a smoothie.

This is my first DegustaBox for a long time and I'm so impressed, not just with a amount of items and value for money but the quality, range of products and recipe ideas and discount codes included. This summer box was perfect especially with the lovely weather we've been having recently and I cannot recommend it enough!

My Geek Box: Afterlight (Oct)

I think most people are used to beauty and now food subscription boxes (the Degusta box is amazing) but I haven't seen any other subscription boxes until now. My Geek Box is a subscription box service focused on TV, film and video games and all things geeky *which I'm loving* so buying a subscription or one off box would be an amazing, unique and unexpected christmas gift! 

I received the *My Geek Box: October/Afterlight (£19.99) which is based around all things halloween as it is the October box. This box is a one off and a 'special' box as far as I know but it is still available to buy. Before ordering I chose the T-shirt size (women's medium) but there are mens sizes too - both of which go up to XXL. 

I received six things in the box including: zombie sticker, zombie metal warning sign, dracula puzzle, boo! t-shirt, bloody hand print tea towel and twisted dark volume one by Neil Gibson. Firstly, I think they should include a leaflet explaining each item and how much each item is worth as all other subscription boxes do. 

- Boo! t-shirt: Such a cute addition which I think will be great as a non-halloween costume and the women's medium fits me (UK size 8-10) well. 

- Zombie sign/sticker: I love anything to do with zombies - Shaun of the dead is one of my favourite films! I don't know what I will do with the sticker and sign yet but I might use them as decorations this halloween. 

- Dracula Puzzle: I'm personally not a fan of wooden puzzles but this one looks great! The aim of the puzzle is to make it into a cube; I think it would be a great stocking filler for those who love puzzles and gothic novels or halloween which I'm personally a fan of. 

- Blood Tea Towel: I'm assuming this is a tea towel, I don't really know what else it could be unless it is a halloween decoration. Either way I think my sister would love it so she will be getting an unexpected surprise in the post! 

- Twisted Dark by Neil Gibson: At first I thought this was a book of short stories and it kind of is but it is a comic book. I have never actually read comic book and this one does look interesting. 

Overall, I think the My Geek Box subscription service is such a unique, novel and fantastic idea which I think will appeal to SO many people, myself included. This halloween box is fantastic and great value for money, in my opinion. My only negative points include the lack of information about the items and the delivery/processing of my order was quite long, probably due to demand but it seems like a consistent problem for the brand unfortunately. Overall rating: ★★★★☆, 4/5.

DegustaBox: July 2018

I love the last week or so of the month because it means that I receive my monthly DegustaBox which I absolutely love receiving because it always contains so many amazing snacks, drinks and cooking ingredients. *DegustaBox - July 2018 

I'm a little late with this review as usually I post is within  day or two of receiving the box but July has been a very busy month with car shopping, holiday planning and a plethora of sponsored posts to publish (which I'm incredibly grateful for). The July box is based around picnic, beach and road trip snacking on the whole along with a couple of items that would be great for a BBQ or summer party. Within each box you always receive between 10 to 15 items and it's a surprise each time - that's one of the main things I love about subscription boxes.

*Ribena Sparkling (£2.70 each)

Let's start with a nostalgic item for me and that's the new Ribena drinks! Ribena is a brand I've loved since childhood so I was interested to try out their new sparkling drinks in the blackcurrant and pineapple & passionfruit flavours. I love the original blackcurrant flavour of Ribena so naturally that's my favourite of the two but the pineapple and passionfruit flavour is very delicious and perfect for summer.

*Cadbury Highlights Milk Chocolate (£2.99)

Next up is an item I'm very excited for as it's making me wish it was autumn - hot chocolate. This new and lighter way to enjoy hot chocolate may not be ideal for the current humid heatwave we've been having in the UK but it will be perfect for chilly autumn days which I CANNOT wait for! I'm forever wishing that it was autumn, particularly during this heatwave.

*Heinz Salad Cream (£1.49)

As I mentioned previously, there are a couple of items in this box that would be perfect BBQ additions and this is one of them. While I am definitely not a fan of salad cream but I know that a lot of people are and it's apparently one of Britain's best loved sauces!

*Rosie's Pig Flat Tyre (£2) 

This is a brand that was included in the June DegustaBox which you can read, if you want, and I mentioned then that I loved the unique packaging and that is the same for this flavour. You will only receive this product if you opted for the alcohol version of the DegustaBox. I love the flavour, it's very tart, fresh and fruity which is great for summer.

*Pulsin Salted Caramel Raw Choc Brownie (£1.59)

I received a product from this brand in a previous box but I can't remember which one and to be honest I wasn't a fan of that flavour but this one was very moreish! I love salted caramel as a flavour and this one was so nice - I think it will be a hit with so many people. I am looking out for calories and these are very calorie dense for what they are so I have to split it over two days but it's so yummy!

*Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles (£1.29)

Next up is sadly an item that I can't eat as it contains gelatine (boo!) but I did used to love these sweets growing up when I wasn't a vegetarian. This option contains 30% less sugar which is great although considering it contains gelatine...it isn't free from disgusting ingredients.

*Capsicana Brazilian Smoked Paprika & Spices Seasoning Mix (£1)

The next two are the products of the month from Degusta. This brand has been featured in DegustaBox boxes previously and I enjoyed those products so I'm interested to try these too. As always I love the fun, colourful packaging! The seasoning mix can be used on meat but obviously I'll be adding it to veggies before putting them in the oven.

*Capsicana Mexican Guacamole Mix (65p each)

Both of these products are going to be launching in Sainsburys stores this month and that's one of the things I love about these boxes - they usually include one or two items that are brand new! The guacamole mix just needs avocado adding to it for a perfect dip. It's more than a little spicy for me but I think most people would love this!

*London Flavours Crisps (95p each)

Some of my favourite items from box, naturally they are savoury crisps. I have the cheddar and red onion flavour and the lightly salted flavour, both of which I love. The cheddar and red onion is my favourite of the two and even though they are very high in calories, I would buy them in the future.

*Peckish Cheese Trays (£1.59)

I received the BBQ flavour of the Peckish rice crackers/crisps in last months box and I loved them as they were very moreish so I was glad to find a tray of the cheese flavour in the July box. As with the BBQ flavour these are very moreish and a great lighter snack. They are baked not fried so they're healthier and they are under 100 calories per portion.

*Percol Iced Coffees (£1.50 each)

The penultimate item is another of my favourites as it is coffee! I adore coffee, it's something I drink every single day so I'm always happy to try more. There are two flavours and I received the protein latte option which contains 18g of protein. They are also fair-trade and organic. The coffee is ideal for the heatwave we've been having, it's very delicious and very rich/creamy.

*Miso Tasty Mugi Barley Miso Soup (£3.75)

Lastly, is an item I haven't tried yet but miso is something I've wanted to try for a while. The soup mix contains fermented barley, soybeans and mungbeans which if I'm honest, it doesn't sound very appealing but I definitely want to try this soup.

DegustaBox - February 2019

The January blues somehow moved on into February and I had no motivation to be productive in any way so sadly today's post is a little late but it is finally here! The January box was absolutely fantastic and thankfully the February box is great too with a wide range of items. If you use the code KVAA2 at the checkout, you can receive your box for only £7.99.

*DegustaBox - February 2019 (£12.99)

The range of items within the February box ranges from childrens milk cartons and snacks to pastas, sweets and more. There are quite a few items and brands that haven't been included within the previous boxes such as the brioche flatbread, jelly gums, pork crackling and seaweed snacks. The theme of the box is 'degusta and chill' so I assume that's why the box contains mostly snacks for any movie night you might have.

*Sacla Reduced Fat Vegan Pasta (£2.50)

Let's start with my favourite item from the box, the vegan pesto from Sacla. It's a brand I've wanted to try for a while but haven't purchased before. I'm SO glad that more and more of the items within the boxes are vegan! The pesto is so incredibly delicious, even my non-vegan friends liked it and I've managed to eat half of the jar already...I will definitely be purchasing this item in the future as it's so quick/easy to use, it tastes delicious and it's vegan.

*Explore Cuisine Organic Chickpea Fusilli (£3)

Another vegan item is the chickpea fusilli which I haven't had the time to try yet but I have wanted to try non-wheat pasta for a while as it's a healthier option and one that contains more protein than regular wheat pasta. Additionally, it's organic and gluten free so this box is ideal for those with numerous dietary requirements.

*Deli Kitchen Golden Brioche Flatbread (£1.25)

Another extremely delicious item, or so I'm told, are the two packs of brioche flatbread from the February box. Before going vegan at the beginning of the year I did try brioche buns a few times and I can say that they were amazing so I'm sure these are too. My mum has tried tried these as part of an easy lunch at work and she loved them.

*Snaffling Pig Pork Crackling (75p each)

Thankfully, there are only two items within the entire box that aren't suitable for vegetarians and one of those are the two packs of pork crackling. There are two flavours included, the salted flavour and BBQ flavour. Naturally I haven't tried them but I am going to pass them onto someone who'll enjoy them.

*Bebeto Watermelon Jelly Gums (50p each)

The second and final item that isn't suitable for vegetarians are these watermelon sweets. If these were suitable for vegans then I would have been so happy as I love gummy sweets but sadly they're not. They are apparently the biggest selling pack in the UK with over three million sold last year.

*Orangina Original (£1.30)

Next up, an item that's been included in a couple of boxes already but I'm always happy to receive. I try not to drink too many carbonated drinks; however, I do have to make an exception for these. They contain real citrus pulp and can be used on its own or mixed into cocktails.

*Appy Kids Co Whole Milk (£1)

When I saw these two packs of mini milk cartons, the first thought I had was that one of my best friends toddlers would love them...as they had Paw Patrol on the front. I don't drink cows milk so I passed them onto my friend and her son instantly loved them as Paw Patrol is one of his favourite TV shows!

*Clearspring Organic Seaveg Crispies Tumeric Multipack (£2.59)

Next up is probably one of the most unusual snacks within the box (and from the past couple of boxes at least). It's a pack of dried seaweed sheets that are flavoured with turmeric...they don't sound like the most delicious and typical snacks but I changed my mind very quickly after trying them.

It's a multipack so there are three in each pack and I've already ate them all, especially as they are only 18 calories per pack. The sheets are baked, they are gluten free, vegan and high fibre snacks. The only downside is that the numeric powder on the sheets can be very messy and can stain very quickly.

*Choc Chick Quinoa Pops and Plantain Bites (£1.85 each)

Last but definitely not least are two packs of vegan chocolate snacks, including the quinoa pops and plantain bites. The quinoa pops are so moreish and delicious, I'll definitely be looking out for them in the future! Sadly though, the plantain bites aren't great if I'm honest. I think this is the first time that I've tried plantain and it's just not for me unfortunately.

Overall, it's a little bit of a mixed bag but I'm happy on the whole with the range of items as well as the inclusion of more and more vegan items in the boxes. I hope more vegan items will appear in future boxes. Don't forget to use the code KVAA2 to get your box for £7.99!

DegustaBox: August 2017

Last month I became a DegustaBox ambassador and I received the July 2017 box which was amazing so I couldn't wait to receive the August box. As with all subscription boxes, one of the main points I love about them is the mystery of what I'll receive; subscription boxes to me are the adult version of those Claire's Accessories goodie bags from the 90's!

Each months box contains between 10 to 15 food, drink and snack items which I think is fantastic considering the low price and if you use the discount code KVAA2 it will make the box only £5.99 instead of £12.99. The August box contained so many nostalgic items in it as well as some of my guilty foods.

Fruit Pot Jelly Squeeze (69p each)

I used to love jelly growing up but as it typically contains gelatine (which isn't suitable for vegetarians), I haven't had jelly for so long...until now! I was so happy to see that both of these jelly products were gelatine free and even though they are probably for children, I'm still eating them! I've tried the Apple and Blackcurrant flavour and it's so sweet and moreish. I also received an orange flavour in my box.

Refreshers Softies (£1)

Speaking of gelatine and nostalgic sweet treats, Refreshers were some of my favourite sweets in primary school. Now they have giant refresher sweets that are soft, fruity and frizzy but sadly they do contain beef gelatine so I won't be eating them but I know my friends will!

Pick Up! Black 'N' White Biscuits (£1.69)

I think I received some of these biscuits in a previous box but I love this brand so it's fine! These biscuits are milk chocolate flavoured with white chocolate in the middle and I can't wait to try them but it will have to wait until after holiday. This box was not very well timed as it's only a few days until my holiday to Norway.

Cadbury CurlyWurly Squirlies (£1.99)

Another very nostalgic product as I used to eat CurlyWurly bars growing up - they were so moreish while simultaneously glueing my teeth together. Again, it will have to wait until after holiday because I'm trying to be very good...I'm actually succeeding *mostly*.

Dairy Milk Big Taste Toffee Whole Nut (65p)

I haven't had any Dairy Milk chocolate for so long and I love anything toffee flavoured so this is perfect for me! It's from a new range and I think I will actually take it with me for the long train journey to Southhampton later this week as it will be a very early start and a very long day!

Light Bites Soya & Chickpea Popped Chips (99p each)

Now we're onto the savoury snacks and they are healthy too! I received two bags of soya and chickpea chips from lighter life. I have the pesto and sundries tomato flavour and the sweet and smoky chipotle flavour, both of which taste so nice and they contain less than 100 calories each. I've tried a few things from this brand and liked them so definitely check it out!

Orangina & Orangina Light (£1.20 each)

Another item I'll be taking on the train (this box was both great for the upcoming holiday and awful for the upcoming holiday!). The drinks come in the delicious original and a light version and they have cute summer limited edition bottle designs too.

Twisted Halo Coconut Water, Ginger & Vodka (£1.50)

Sticking with the summery theme, this ready to serve drink is perfect for summer as it contains ginger, coconut and lime! I also love the packaging and it only contains 90 calories which is amazing. When friends come round, I'll be buying a few more!

Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce (£1.89)

We're onto the last few items (there were so many in this month box!) and it's something I haven't tried before. I'm not a fan of very spicy food but I do like jalapeños so this hot sauce as it is milder is perfect for me. I'm going to be making vegan tacos very soon so I'll definitely be adding some of this.

Hellmanns Mayonnaise (£1.69)

For me personally, there have only been two items in this box that I am not 100% happy with and those include the Refreshers sweets as they contain gelatine and this one...I can't be the only one who thinks that mayonnaise is just disguising, right? Just me? OK.

Maggi Fusian Noodles (£1.39 each)

Last but not least, my guilty food pleasure. We all have foods that we adore but that aren't healthy, nutritious or even acceptable in modern society and for me, that is buttery, salty instant noodles - they're so delicious. I've only had this box for a couple of days now and I've managed to eat both packets...I have zero willpower when it comes to noodles. Oops.

Overall, I'm really happy with the August box as it contained so many yummy snacks, drinks and chocolate, all of which will be gone a few days after I come back from Norway as I only have so much willpower.
