New In: I Heart Makeup Lip Balms

I'm a bit confused with the branding, first it was Makeup Revolution, then some products under the I Heart Makeup brand and now Tam Beauty (why confuse customers like that!) so I'm not sure the proper brand these are made by but you can get them from Tam Beauty and on the Superdrug website.

I was kindly sent all five of the new *I Heart Makeup Lip Balms (£2.99) which is a fantastic package to arrive for me as I am a bit of a lip balm hoarder and I use them constantly. I love the EOS lip balms, I have three of them and these look like a close dupe but at a cheaper price so I was excited to give them a go.

They have the same design as the EOS balms, in terms of the cute, colourful and compact packaging as well as the rounded shape of the lip balm which makes it so quick and easy to apply especially on the go. I love these, they are a little glossy but not so much so that I don't like them and they are really smoothing. They are moisturising but not quite so moisturising as the EOS balms but then again they are cheaper!

There are five flavours: Cool Vanilla, Wild Strawberry, Raspberry Fizz, Mint Sorbet and Blueberry Crush. I have always loved strawberry lip balms so I tried that flavour first and I love it; obviously the flavours/scents are artificial but I don't mind - they remind me of teen versions of the EOS balms. I'd definitely recommend them as a cheaper alternative to the EOS balms and I will be using them constantly. Overall rating: ★★★★★, 5/5.

Makeup Revolution Unicorns Unite Lipsticks

Makeup Revolution has to be one of my favourite brands of the year and last year actually so when these beauties arrived, I was so excited especially as they are all fun and unusual shades which will be just perfect for so many halloween and fancy dress looks! 

The *Makeup Revolution Unicorns Unite Lipsticks (£1 each or buy the full collection for £4) come in the regular Makeup Revolution packaging with the colour indicated on the base of the tube which I think is a fantastic idea! The shades from top to bottom according to my swatches are as follows:

- Legend: Deep metallic faded purple shade which I think would be great as a lipstick or face colour shade for a robot look as it is so metallic and it has a grey undertone. 

- Pink Myth: Bright coral pink with raspberry red undertones, it has a sheen but it isn't glitter or metallic like the others which makes it far more 'normal' and wearable - it would be a gorgeous shade during the summer months. Perfect for a doll look!

- Throne: Similar to Throne but it is lighter and brighter but it still has that gorgeous shimmery metallic finish. It is almost a metallic lavender shade that I think will be great for so many fun halloween looks. 

- Horn of Magic: Bright, electric light turquoise shade that is packed with shimmer and glitter so it would be great for a mermaid look or any kind of aquatic halloween look. This is my favourite from the collection in terms of how unusual it is!

- Magical: Vivid violet with blue undertones, it has an iridescent shimmer to it and it's my favourite shade overall. You do have to build some of the shades up as they can be sheer but if you did want to wear this one sheered out then it looks like a iridescent bruised shade *granted not what you would typically want for everyday but perfect for halloween* 

Overall, I think the price of these lipsticks is just fantastic making them perfect for fancy dress parties or halloween because if you're like me then you don't want to buy expensive products that you are only going to use a few times a year. The lipsticks are so versatile as you can also be used as blush or as face paint accents, for example, I used the blue shade around the exterior of my face for dimension on my cheshire cat look. Overall rating: ★★★★☆, 4/5.

Makeup Revolution Lip Liners

Makeup revolution is one of my favourite brands, they bring out so many fantastic and affordable products - some of which are great dupes for higher end products. I was very kindly sent eight of the new *Makeup Revolution Lip Liners (£1 each) and I have to say, for the price, I'm so impressed on the whole. The lip liners are currently on offer, so if you buy all 8 you get 2 free so you only pay £6. 

Rebel: Vivid purple fuchsia (the shade is darker in 'real life')

Baby Pink: Pastel Baby Pink with creamy white undertones

Cherry Red: Hot pink with bright red undertones

The One: Deep beige with tan undertones (the one I forgot to photograph above!)

Bold Pink: Bright cool toned pink (mix between Cherry Red and Baby Pink)

Vamp: Blackcurrent shade 

Soft Pink: Bright soft pink (mix between Bold Pink and Baby Pink)

Nearly Naked: Off white with baby pink undertones (similar to Baby Pink but lighter and less pink)

I have to be honest and say that the lighter shades, including Baby Pink and Nearly Naked, are very drying and they emphasise every hint of dryness on the lips. I will be keeping them for halloween though as I think they will be great for so many halloween looks! 

The shades I am very impressed with are Cherry Red, Rebel, Bold Pink and Baby Pink as they are so smooth, creamy, soft and very pigmented. They also don't emphasise dryness too much on me (and my lips are SO dry); the shades feel comfortable on the lips and they could easily be layered together or with other products. 

Overall, I'm so impressed with how creamy, smooth and pigmented most of the shades are; the price is amazing! All of the shades are fairly matte with no shimmer. They all have an inbuilt sharpener on the lid which for travelling would be pretty handy but after use it does make the product looks dirty/messy. Overall rating: ★★★★☆, 4/5.

My Favourite Makeup Revolution Palettes

Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite drugstore/cheaper brands, especially for more 'out there' products that I don't want to spend a lot of money on. Makeup Revolution also make amazing eyeshadow palettes, I love the awesome palette for bright halloween looks but they also have gorgeous natural palettes.

I have two of their newer palettes, the *Makeup Revolution I Heart Obsession Palettes (£3.99); I have the 'pure cult' and 'paris' palettes. I have been using the 'pure cult' palette a lot since I received it, it's fantastic and I love most of the shades. The four matte shades in the 'pure cult' are amazing, they are not patchy and they blend so well which is difficult to achieve with cheaper eyeshadows. The glittery shades are beautiful, especially the amber, mink and purple shades as they are so pigmented but there is quite a bit of fall out. 

I've also been loving the *Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes 2 Palette (£4) - it is so rare to find a completely matte eyeshadows at such a low price point! The shades are all so wearable, smooth and blend so well for cheaper matte shadows; the shades also build well. Within this palette, I've been loving the lavender, mink and creamy shades which look beautiful paired with a coat of mascara for a fresh, floral spring look that is very wearable. 

Lastly, the *Makeup Revolution Pro Looks Palette (£6, Stripped & Bare) which is also one of their newer palettes. I love the layout of the shades in this palette, it looks similar to a Too Faced palette that I have wanted to try for a while. Each of the three sections contain five shadows which compliment each other perfectly or you can mix and match the shades. I love the matte shades as well as the deep purple and navy shades. The dark olive shadow is so beautiful but it is very patchy and there is a lot of fall out, thankfully the rest of the shades are great!

All three looks above were created with the 'pure cult' palette and the Essential Mattes 2 palette. Overall, Makeup Revolution is a fantastic and affordable brand that have been releasing so many new products recently, a lot of which are innovative or dupes for more expensive products. I have been a massive fan of Makeup Revolution since they launched and although on occasion they can make a products that are not so great, most of their releases are fantastic, especially for the very low price point.
