August Empties: Bath/Body & Fragrance

Thursday, August 30, 2012
This month I only have a few bath and body products but I also have a couple of fragrance products that I have used up this month as well. This month I have one body lotion (which is amazing), one shower foam (not amazing), one body wash (also not amazing), a body fragrance and a room/pillow spray.
I received this shower foam as a present and I was excited to try it as I like shower foams and I also like the brand. Although I expected this product to be similar to the Imperial Leather shower foam but it isn't. This product is nothing like a shower foam - it is not foamy at all! Overall, the shower gel doesn't foam up at all, it smells like plastic and it is just an average product. Not recommended.
I received this product in one of the beauty boxes that I subscribe to (I think it was  a glossy box) and I was not very excited to try it - unlike the rest of the beauty blogging community which seemed to go mad over this brand and their products. I do not understand the hype of these products as to me they are average quality and very overpriced. This body wash was very average, it didn't do anything spectacular and it is unscented - which is great if you have sensitive skin (on the body) which I don't. Overall, to me these products are over hyped and this product in particular is very average. Not recommended. Also the packaging feels really cheap and the lid broke after opening the bottle for the second time!
I have a small 30ml travel size version of this body lotion and I did take this product on holiday with me (I arrived back in Manchester on Saturday and I was welcomed back with torrential rain, thunder, lightening and hale stone, typical!). Anyway, I used this product as an after sun and it works so well as a soothing after sun as it is very moisturising but light. This product does have a scent which is a little bit unusual but it is really nice and fresh, in my opinion. This moisturiser does not take long to absorb and it leaves my skin feeling moisturised, smooth and soothed - a great body lotion and after sun! Recommended.

The last two products I have used up this month are two fragrances. The first is a eau de toilette from Yves Rocher (one of my favourite but not very widely available in the UK brands). The Yves Rocher Yellow Peach Eau De Toilette (20ml, £5) has a gorgeous fresh peach scent but it has the worst longevity on the skin - it lasts for about two/three hours at the most on my skin. But I find that this product lasts a lot longer on clothing/linen so I have been spraying this product on my clothing and on my bed linen and it works really well as a linen spray. Overall, the scent is nice and very uplifting, it works well as a linen/clothing spray but it has very poor longevity on the skin. Secondly, I have used up a bottle of the Avon Sleeptherapy Goodnight Pillow Mist (200ml, £4.50-£2). I find that this product does smell really nice like musky lavender but it does not help me sleep really.

August Empties: Skincare & Makeup

Wednesday, August 29, 2012
I have used up quite a few skincare and a couple of makeup products this month, most of which are sample sizes so it does feel like I am cheating a little bit...but anyway here are my skincare and makeup empties for the month of august!

I have been using this makeup remover on and off for a while now and I have a love hate relationship with this product - I like that it removes my makeup fairly well and it doesn't irritate my skin but on the other hand it feels incredibly oily and disgusting on my skin. I really do not understand how Lancome can print 'non oily' on the bottle of this product - it is the most oily/greasy product I have ever applied to my skin! Overall, a good makeup remover apart from the very oily residue (although there are makeup removers that are far better and a lot cheaper). Definitely not recommended.
I have posted a full review of this product already (link here) so I wont talk about it too much. I do like this moisturiser but I find that it is not as moisturising as I need it to be and it is really expensive too! This moisturiser has a tint to it which I didn't expect but I feel like the tint to this product slightly evens out my skin tone. Overall, a nice product but not worth the £38 price tag, in my opinion. Not recommended, unless you have £38 to spend on a slightly average moisturiser.
I bought this lip balm a year or two ago from a Kiko Cosmetics store in Taormina, Sicily and from then on I was hooked - on the brand and this product. This product is just a lip balm but it leaves my lips really smooth, glossy and hydrated. This lip balm has also lasted a really long time too and the packaging is divine and quite expensive looking, for a lip balm. Recommended.
I received this cleanser travel size as a free gift with purchase (from a HQhair order I think) and I have finally got round to using it and I love it! This cleaner is great for my dry/sensitive skin and even though the scent of rose makes me think that this cleanser will irritate my skin - it doesn't. The cleanser is creamy and smooth and it applies really nicely; it feels quite luxurious and expensive. Overall, this cleanser is soothing, hydrating and easy to use/remove; although I feel like it doesn't deep clean my skin. Recommended.
I have been using this product to apply my foundation for the past year or so (not the same sponge! I have gone through about ten sponges now). When I had eczema and my skin was incredibly dry/flaky this was the only tool I could use to apply my foundation as other products/brushes enhanced my skin flakiness/dryness but this sponge doesn't. A great tool for applying foundation as it gives an even, streak free finish. Recommended especially for those with dry skin.
I had a sample of this foundation, which has been available to buy for a while now and it is slightly darker than my skin tone but disregarding the shade it is a gorgeous foundation overall. The texture is smooth and silky which allows the foundation to glide onto the skin and the foundation blends effortlessly. Although the only problem I have with this product is the glitter that is included within the foundation. I personally hate foundations with glitter in them so because of the glitter I would not buy this foundation. Not recommend as the glitter is fairly noticeable.
Apivita Express Beauty Cucumber Face Mask (8ml, £3)
I have been able to use one sachet of this mask twice as there is a lot of product in one mask sachet. Firstly, this mask smells really nice - like the old Boots cucumber skincare range which were the first skincare products I used! The texture of this mask is nice and it applies quickly and easily to the skin. The mask has a cooling effect but then this mask does start to irritate my skin making my skin feel a bit tingly/burning and quite red in some places. Due to the irritation I experienced while using this face mask I would not recommend it for sensitive skin and I will not be buying it. Although I may try one of the other masks as they are available in M&S and they are really cheap too.

August Empties: Haircare

Tuesday, August 28, 2012
This month I have been trying even harder than usual to use products up, as it was my birthday this month and I knew I would get some gorgeous bath/body/haircare products - I needed to make room for the new products I received and bought. So here are the haircare products that I have used up in the month of August!

I actually bought this shampoo from which is a fantastic website for cheap beauty products and fragrance. I bought this as it came with a free gift but I wasn't really bothered about the shampoo. I haven't used a foam shampoo before this one and I excepted it to be like the imperial leather foam shower gels and it is to an extent. The shampoo is a foam, it looks and feels like a foam but there is a downside - it does not lather up at all for me. Also as well as the poor lathering effect the shampoo also smells fairly unpleasant - like plastic and hairspray, in my opinion. Overall, this shampoo doesn't lather, it smells like plastic and because it doesn't lather I can't massage it into my scalp. Although it is very gentle on the scalp/hair and it did not irritate.

I bought this product quite a while ago from Superdrug as it was on sale and it was released at the time where all hair products with argan oil were all the range. I had this haircare product for months and months and it has only just kicked the bucket! The products itself is ok, it is just an average hair cream that claims to smooth and defrizz. I find that this product only worked with my hair when my hair was wet/damp and it does defrizz and smooth my hair to an extent. I love the packaging for this product, not the colours or the design but the pump dispenser. Overall, this product does defrizz/smooth my hair to an extent, it has a pump dispenser but it has that artificial watermelon scent that most cheap haircare product have.

I received this product as a free gift a long time ago and I have only just got round to using it. This product is a hair smoother and I have a 10ml bottle of this as a sample size. This one small bottle lasted quite a while and it smells quite nice - herbally but fresh. I was not as impressed as I thought I would be with this product - it does smooth and defrizz my hair to an extent but the effects were not amazing, for me anyway. Overall, a nice but fairly average product with an expensive price tag.

I received this product free with my GHD's a year or two ago and I just adore this hair mask, although I believe it is now discontinued unfortunately but it is available to purchase on eBay. This hair mask smells really nice, it leaves my hair really detangled, smooth and soft. This hair mask is one of the best that I have used!

Mini collective Haul: Amazon and Asos

Saturday, August 25, 2012
I had a code from Asos for 10% off and free next day delivery (for my birthday, which was very nice of them!) which was great as I forgot to buy a couple of things for my holiday. I bought a Fake Bake Mitt (£4) for applying MAC Face and Body (from Duty Free) to my legs while on holiday. I also bought a bottle of Make Believe Little White Lie Wash Off lighter Fake Tan (£4.50, 100ml). I bought this particular instant colour tan as I had the free next day delivery code (which is great as I only had a few days before my holiday!) and because it was on sale.
Now, I don't wear fake tan and I only ever use products similar to this while on holiday so I am by no means an expert but I tried this product a few days ago (a few days before my holiday) and it is awful! It looks really red on my skin, it irritates my skin very slightly and it does not make my skin look natural or tanned. It makes my skin look like I have had an allergic reaction and sun burn at the same time! Although this product washes off really easily which is great! I would not recommend the Make Believe Little White Lie Wash Off Fake Tan but the Fake Bake Mitt feels really nice and I think it will work well. Full review and swatches will be posted after my holiday.
As well as a cheeky Asos (emergency) order I also made an order with Amazon as my Amazon voucher from had come through (if you would like a full post on my experiences and opinions of reviewing sites I will make that after my holiday - I am a member of two reviewing sites and I have been for more than a year). With my voucher I bought the first season of The Borgia's for £13.97. The Borgia's is an American TV series of a famous and influential Italian family who were alive during the 16th/17th century in Rome. I love the TV series and I cannot wait for season three next year!

I also bought the NYX Caviar and Bubbles Palette from the Runway Collection. I bought this palette for £12.49. I love neutral/natural palettes and I especially love this! The shades are gorgeous and they have good pigmentation and despite the reviews I had read about the shades being really glittery, I don't think they are. Most of the shades have a satin finish with tiny shimmer but some shades are matte and other are a little bit more shimmery. Overall, a gorgeous neutral palette that is definitely not glittery, in my opinion. Full review and swatches will be posted soon.

Pre-Holiday Haul #3: Boots!

Sunday, August 19, 2012
I made a cheeky boots order as a Revlon product had been released and I was really excited to try it. Also Boots have a section on their website called 'when its gone, its gone' which contains discounted product - up to a 75% off discount! I bought a few things from the sale section of boots, as well as some regular things and some new releases!
These first two items were from the section section. Firstly, a Fudge Wet Head Conditioner (500ml) and guess the price? No, it was only £4.87! This item is an online exclusive and I am really excited to try it and it was such a bargain! The second item is a St. Tropez Tan Optimiser Soft Mitt which was also in the sale/offer section and it was only...87p! This item is also an online exclusive and it is 75% off. Great bargains from Boots and some great products too.
Yet another item from the 'when its gone, its gone' section of the Boots website is this little beauty! I saw this palette and I had to have it - and it helped that it was only £2.99 (and if you spend more than £5.99 on 17 products you get a free gift). This is the Boots 17 Spring Fling Palette in the shade 'Hazy Days'. This palette looks so cute, in my opinion and the pigmentation is really great. Overall a great little palette; I cannot wait to test it fully when I get back from holiday!
I bought this next product from the regular line of Boots 17 products so that I received the free gift on offer. This is the Boots 17 Sheer Moisture Foundation in the shade 'light'. I also bought this foundation as it says that it is moisturising and as I have dry skin I have to try everything foundation that states it is moisturising! Also this foundation was only £4.99 so if it didn't work it wasn't a big loss. This product is quite nice though; it has a nice light feel as it is being applied, it blends really easily and it has light coverage. I find that this foundation can feel fairy heavy on my skin and the colour is a tiny bit too orange for me - full review coming soon.
As I spent more than £5.99 on Boots 17 products I received a free gift which contains: Bronzed cream blush, solo eyeshadow and a ultimate volume lip gloss - not bad for a free gift! I will not use the cream blush as it is a rusty orange colour.
Although have tried the lip gloss in the shade 'in the nude' and the eyeshadow in the shade 'statuesque'. The eyeshadow is gorgeous, it is a champagne shade with rosy undertones and the lip gloss is a nice metallic rose too - although the lip gloss is  too metallic for me personally to wear on its own.
I last few things I bought included a mini Avene Thermal Water Spray which I bought as a cooling spray for holiday and as a possible make up setting spray - as my Caudalie Beauty Elixir is fairly expensive (but I love it, although the scent is really strong). The Avene spray was only £3.15 for a 50ml travel size.
The second item I bought is a new release from Revlon (new to the UK anyway, as these shadow sticks have been available in the US for a while now). I bought the Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick in the shade 'Torch' which has a pinky champagne on one end and a golden chocolate shade on the other end. I really like the texture of these shadows, they glide on to the skin so quickly/easily and the have good pigmentation (especially the shadow shade). A full review will be posted soon(ish)!

*Currently on a cruise so I will publish all of my cruise/holiday posts when I get back as being on the internet is a bit expensive - with Royal Caribbean*

I'm now 20, which means...a birthday haul (of sorts)

Friday, August 17, 2012
I turned 20 years of age on the 15th August (I know, I'm getting old!). I received some beauty products, some chocolates (not good as I'm going on holiday on the 18th but I have remained strong and I haven't stuffed my face with chocolate...yet!). I had some family round on my birthday and I received my presents (and money!) but everything is really chaotic because of the holiday so it didn't really feel like a birthday. Also on my birthday the heavens opened and it rained really heavily for most of the day! Any way here are some of the things I received for my birthday!
The first thing I opened is a perfume from Burberry - Burberry Body, which is the latest Burberry fragrance I believe. I wanted this fragrance since it was released late last year and it hasn't disappointed. Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous, really luxurious, heavy and expensive!
The fragrance is just gorgeous! It is warm, feminine and sexy but it still remains light and very wearable. I would wear this during the day or night and it is just a divine scent. Also even though it is expensive, it is 85ml and the packaging is amazing (and really quite heavy).
I received another fragrance (I already had a lot of perfume anyway, so I could now open a fragrance shop!). I have never tried a Diesel fragrance before but it is surprising gorgeous. It is not as nice as the Burberry perfume, as you would expect but it is nice and floral/musky. I don't really like the packaging as to me it is a little bit tacky but overall it is a nice fragrance.
I have already proclaimed my love for this candle in a previous post (link here for my full review). So I wont go on too much about this candle but it is a divine scent and everyone who has smelt the candle loves it too. The candle smells amazing, the scent travels all around the house (more or less) and the scent is strong too. Overall, an fantastic candle and definitely worth the money!
I also received some little bits of things such as a Liz Earle Botanical Shine haircare duo, a Sanctuary Spa Intensive Shine Hair Mask and a really cute little notebook which says 'Keep Calm and Shop' on the front - perfect for me!

The Liz Earle shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and I cannot wait to try the shampoo/conditioner and I also can't wait to try the Sanctuary Spa hair butter too! Overall, quite a productive birthday!

Glossy Box: August 2012

Thursday, August 16, 2012
I received my Glossy Box two days ago and it is the international edition! The six products in my glossy box were from the UK, Spain, Germany and Japan. This months box, for me, has a great range of products from nail care and skincare to makeup! My Glossy Box was delivered by Royal Mail and it came really early this month for some reason.
There are six products this month including two make up products: a Glossy Box lipstick (shade: glossy pink) and an eyeshadow palette from the brand Vera Valenti. There are two skincare products: All for eve, Eve's balm (7g) and DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. There is also a bottle of Lipcote which I already have and a mini nail polish treatment - Pro White Original Nail Whitener.
Glossy Box Lipstick (Glossy Pink) & Lipcote Lipstick Sealer (£3.69)
Firstly, the two lip products. As stated previously, I already have a bottle of Lipcote which I haven't used so I really didn't need another bottle. The second lip product is a Glossy Box lipstick in the shade 'Glossy Pink'. The shade in the tube looks gorgeous - a rosy wearable red. Although on my lips this shade is a baby pink and it makes my teeth look a bit yellow! Not an impressive box so far...
DHC Cleansing Oil (£3.50 - £18.50) & All For Eve Eve's Balm (£4.95)
The box contents gets a lot better now with the two skincare products. The first skincare product is the DHC Deep Cleaning Oil, which I am really excited to try and it has some really impressive claims. The second skincare product is the All For Eve 'Eve's Balm' which is a moisturising balm for chapped skin. I have used this balm on my hands/nails/cuticles and it works really well and it smells herbal and floral - like lavender. These two products make up the box for me, they are the best products, in my opinion.
Vera Valenti Professional Colour Eyeshadow Palette
One of the last products is this fairly neutral palette which is apparently a cult beauty product in Spain. I have been to Barcelona (and I am going again next week) and I haven't seen or heard of this brand/product. I have used this palette a couple of times now and I do like it although the packaging look cheap and tacky. Also the pigmentation is not amazing but overall it is a good product and I will use it.
Alessandro Pro White Nail Polish/Treatment
I have tried this polish once and it has tiny specks of blue/violet shimmer in it which is supposed to make the nails look whiter. I don't have yellow nails at all (only after a horrible Rimmel green nail polish did I ever have yellow nails). I find that this product doesn't do anything really to my nails, although someone who have a yellow tint/stain to their nails may find this product useful but for me it isn't.

Overall, a mixed box but I do like the palette and the two skincare products but I don't know whether to carry on with my subscription to Glossy Box.

Pre-Holiday Haul #2: Zara, Redken and Revlon

Tuesday, August 14, 2012
I recently went to the Trafford centre (again) last Saturday as it is nearly holiday time and I needed some shoes but naturally I had to buy some other things! I went to Boots and Zara - the Redken shampoo was delivered the same day.
Firstly, Boots, in particular Revlon. I have been really impressed with the new releases from Revlon over the past couple of months. I liked the Revlon lip butters and I adore the three Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. When I saw these Revlon Nail Art FrenchMix Duo Nail Polishes, I could not leave the store without one! I tried to find some swatches and images online but I couldn't find any - so I hope these swatches/photographs help! There were some interesting duo combinations including a baby pink and a metallic teal. Although I bought the most boring and natural one, obviously! I bought the shade 'Miss Perfect' which is a classic french manicure duo which looks gorgeous in the bottles but the pink shade is really streaky. Although the pink shade dries fully in about one minute, unlike the white shade which needs about ten minutes to dry. Overall, I am not very impressed with this product and at £7.99 it is not that cheap.
I have been wanting to buy the Redken All Soft shampoo/conditioner for a while now but the price has always put me off. Then they were on sale on HQhair (and I had a 15% off code) so they were only about £6/7 each, so I bought them. The shampoo arrived but the conditioner didn't, apparently there is a problem and or delay with the manufacturer. I haven't tried the shampoo yet but I am excited to, although it doesn't really smell of anything which is a little bit disappointing.
These shoes are available in the 'girls' section of Zara, as I have really small feet I have to get them from there but the sizes go up to an adult 5.5 (UK). I bought the black pair of these studded flats when they were in the Zara sale and they have now brought out a dove grey pair. At £30 a pair it is a little bit expensive for flats but I love them - especially the slipper style and the small metal studs!

Pre-Holiday Haul #1: HQhair & Caudalie

Saturday, August 11, 2012
I recently made and order with HQhair as I received an email with a code for a free goody bag (bag of sample products) so I used the code and I bought the Caudalie Beauty Elixir (you had to make a purchase for the code to work). I love Caudalie and I have tried the SOS serum that came in a Glossy Box and I have a sample of the day perfecting fluid and also the Caudalie vinosource creme sorbet moisturiser.

I did put off buying the beauty elixir as everyone has it and it mostly has rave reviews but I didn't see the point of this product - although now that I have it I am contemplating buying another bottle, especially if I can find a discount code! I have used this product a few times now. I have tried it as a toner, a cooling/uplifting facial mist and as a makeup setting spray. I love this product as a makeup setting spray as it makes my makeup look dewy and fresh - it makes my skin look radiant and glowing without looking oily at all! I find that this product also works really well as a toner and a facial mist but the main use for me is as a setting spray for my makeup. Recommended.
In the free sample goody bag I received two fragrance samples: Versace Yellow diamond fragrance sample, Signorina fragrance sample (this is the sample fragrance I have tried and I don't really like it - it smells nice initially but it doesn't last and smells quite old fashioned). I received one skincare sample, the Korres Quercetin & Oak moisturiser which I don't think I will use as it states that it for oily skin and I have dry/sensitive. I also received two makeup samples: a Duwop venom Gloss - I already have a sample venom gloss and it is nice but I wouldn't buy it full size. The last sample is the reason why I wanted the sample goody bag - Nars Sheer Glow Foundation sample!
I have wanted to try this foundation for ages now but the price as always put me off buying it but after trying this sample I will have to buy the full size! I received the shade 'santa fe' which is one, maybe two, shades darker than my skin tone. The texture of this foundation is gorgeous, the application is light and quick and the finish on the skin is natural and light but it has light-medium coverage, in my opinion. This foundation applies like a dream and it makes my skin looked more even and radiant!

NOTD: Max Factor 'Fantasy Fire'

Thursday, August 09, 2012
This post is a NOTD day post (nail of the day) which shows the nail polish I have been wearing today. Before this polish I wore my gorgeous OPI 'Barefoot in Barcelona' which is my favourite nail polish ever! I find that I can not use the shade 'Fantasy Fire' by Max Factor on its own as it is just too sheer, so I have to apply a layer of my Jessica nail polish in the shade 'for your eyes only'. I really like the one Jessica nail polish that I have and I really need to buy some more as this polish applies so evenly and it has great pigmentation (I only need one coat for full opacity).
After the Jessica nail polish in the shade 'for your eyes only' was dry I then applied the Max Factor mini nail polish in the shade 'Fantasy Fire'. Once the polish is applied to the nail it becomes a gorgeous compilation of metallic shimmer of many colours - in some lights the gold shimmer can come through, in other lights the red shimmer comes through and in other lights a golden olive green comes through. Overall, the max factor nail polish in the shade 'fantasy fire' is like no other nail polish I have seen - it is just amazing! Both nail polishes (Jessica and Max Factor) apply well, dry quickly and last well on my nails.

Magazine Freebies: September Issues 2012

Sunday, August 05, 2012

I went to Tesco yesterday and I picked up two magazines - Elle and Tatler, the later I had never bought before and I only bought it this time because of the freebie! There were a couple of other magazines that I wanted but they didn't have any freebies! Firstly, the most exciting freebie...a mini version of the new Lancome Star Mascara (£21)!
The only reason I bought the September issue of Tatler (£4.10) is because of the free mini Lancome mascara - and it is the mini 'Star' mascara! I am was really surprised that there were still copies of the magazine because this freebie is fantastic, in my opinion, especially as it is Lancome's newest mascara! The wand is really unusual, it is tapered so it is narrower at one end and a lot wider at the base of the wand. The wand is looks like a wide triangle from the front but from the side it is really quite thin - it is a really strange wand and I thought it would be difficult to use but it really isn't! I used this mascara today and I adore it! The wand is really nice (if a little strange), it is so easy to use, it is really black and it makes my lashes look fuller, thicker, longer and curled (even though I didn't curl my lashes!). Overall, an amazing mascara from Lancome! I will buy this mascara when I am at duty free later this month, although I wish it was waterproof!
The second freebie I received is included with the September issue of Elle UK magazine (£3.90). The freebie in question is the Jemma Kidd Make Up School I-Glamour Define Eyeliner (£14)...phew. I have only tried this once and it doesn't apply very well to the lids but it blends/smudges out really well and it lasts really well on the skin. Overall a good eyeliner and a great freebie! Although I probably wouldn't buy it again.

A Week In Photographs #2

Sunday, August 05, 2012
The weather in the UK, well Manchester, over the past week or so has been really nice on the whole (apart from the thunder and rain yesterday)! And today there is so much cloud and a lot of thunder and lightening where I live - today is the first time I have actually seen a full lightening bolt! I have noticed that the squirrel (or Stuart as we call him) has been a regular visitor to our back garden - I managed to take a lot of cute photographs of him while he ate the nuts meant for the birds! As well as the nice weather I have also been loving my Kringle Candle Wax Tarts/Potpourri and my Kringle Candle American Flag Burner (only £4). I have used up the  Kringle Candle Wax Tarts in the scents: 'Maple Sugar' which is really nice and authentic smelling and 'Kringle cookie' which is not the nicest in my opinion as it just smells like cinnamon muffins and potpourri to me. The most recent Kringle Candle Wax Tart that I have been burning is the scent 'Hot Chocolate' which actually smells like a mix of hot cocoa, chocolate and chocolate brownies - gorgeous! The 'Hot Chocolate' scent disperses really well, it is a strong scent and even after the wax has hardened again the scent is still noticeable for about two to three hours!
I went to the Trafford Centre last week (28th) for some last minute holiday shopping and we drove past Manchester United's grounds (Old Trafford) and it had the Olympic rings on the front so I thought I would take a photograph of it - I only had my HTC Sensation with me so the photograph is not amazing (and the car was moving!). The second photograph is while driving home from the Trafford Centre and there were Olympic banners on the street lights. The photograph above also shows the Beetham Tower which is a hotel/bar/conference centre in the centre of Manchester and it is the tallest building in Manchester. It also has the UK's highest living space and it is the UK's tallest building outside of London!
As well as the lovely weather and Kringle candle goodness I have also been loving the Olympics! I have particularly been loving the rowing, boxing, diving, gymnastics (especially the men's gymnastics and the bronze medal in the men's gymnastics!) and the shooting was great too (and not just because GB won a gold medal!). Although I really do not like the way the BBC commentators have been really quite negative towards some of the British athletes, in my opinion by saying that they are lucky to be in the games etc! Although overall, the games have been great so far - apart from the shocking defeat against South Korea in football last night!

Hope you had a great week! x

Product Review: Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid!

I received this product as a free sample with a HQHair order I think and I have only just got round to using it as I have so many skincare samples! I love Caudalie products as they are really gentle, they don't irritate my skin and the work really well with my skin (sensitive/dry). This product also has a scent, it is a fresh floral scent and even though this moisturiser is scented it does not irritate my skin. This product is a day moisturiser, it is suitable for all skin types, it contains SPF 15 and it is tinted. I did not expect this product to be tinted but it has a definite beige/pale skin tone tint to it.  I find that this moisturiser is not moisturising enough for my dry skin so I have to mix it with my Simple Rich Moisturiser. Upon application this moisturiser glides over the skin so smoothly and it leaves my skin hydrated, smooth and because of the tint I feel like this moisturiser evens out my skin tone slightly too. Another great product from Caudalie!

I have created this nail look and tutorial post to celebrate the medals won in the Olympic pool at the London 2012 games! The base colour I used is No7 Stay Perfect polish in the shade 'Sing The Blues', which is a gorgeous metallic ocean blue colour - this shade is gorgeous and summery alone but I have added a bronze shade on the tips. I used one of the two nail polishes I received in my July Jolie Box 2012 - Nailgirls London polish in the shade 'Bronze'.
I think the combination of the bronze and deep ocean blue is just gorgeous! To create this look I used the No7 polish in the shade 'Sing The Blues' as a base coat - I used two thin coats for this nail look. I then waited for the blue base shade to dry (it only took about five minutes or so to dry). Then I used the bronze to create a fairly thick line along the tips of my nails to contrast with the deep metallic blue base colour (I did not use nail sticker guides). I then waited for the bronze shade to dry which again only took about five minutes if that and I then applied a top coat. The top coat I used is the Sally Hansen Insta-dry anti-chip top coat which I actually don't like! The Sally Hansen top coat only keeps my nail polish chip free for about three days, which is not that great, in my opinion.
Happy Olympics Everyone! x

Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick: Rose Creme

Wednesday, August 01, 2012
This shade is one of the new shades brought out by Avon for their Extra Lasting Lipstick range. I have two of the original shades, 'totally twig' and 'cappuccino'. Click here for my review and swatches of the shade 'totally twig' and click here for my review and swatches of the shade 'cappuccino'. I bought this shade as in the booklet it looked like one of the more natural everyday shades and it is a gorgeous shade - but maybe not for everyday.
As with the shades 'totally twig' and 'cappuccino' this product applies incredibly smoothly to the lips which makes applying this product really easy. The application is helped by the gorgeous smooth, silky texture of the lipstick which allows it to glide across my lips like a lip balm.

This shade is just gorgeous, it is a fairly bright rose pink, in my opinion. I would wear this shade in the day but probably not to university as it is a little bit too bright for me. This shade looks really nice against my pale skin tone, in my opinion and I think this shade would suit quite a few skin tones. The wear of this product is not as good as the shade 'totally twig' but it does last a good five hours, which is about wear as my MAC lipstick in the shade 'creme in your coffee', on me anyway.

Overall, the packaging is great, the application is fantastic, the shade is gorgeous and the wear is great. Also this product is usually on offer so I would stock up on a few shades when it is on offer (full size £7). An amazing lipstick from Avon!
