How To Prepare Your Home For A Party

Tuesday, June 06, 2017
If you are planning a party, the run up to the event is almost as important as the occasion itself. This is because, for the host, preparation is everything. A well-organised host is the key to a successful party where everything goes according to plan.

Whether it is a birthday party, engagement party, a gathering in celebration of an anniversary, new job, or another achievement, or simply another type of celebration, there are many reasons why you could be choosing to host a party. Similarly, it is often a sensible idea to hold a party at home as this can cut down on the cost of hiring a venue, for example. Although you may not be able to fit many people in your home, this can help to narrow down the guest list to ensure that only the people you really want to invite will be there.

Of course, not everyone is going to be a natural at party planning and not every home will be perpetually spick and span. If that is you or it sounds familiar, don’t worry. Simply follow these top tips to ensure your home is ready for the upcoming event in the utmost style!

Cleaning
Cleaning and tidying up your home is the best way to ensure it is looking its best ready for the big day. It is usually easiest to start with the hallway or entrance way of your home then work outwards from there, making sure to cover only the rooms where your guests will visit. Don’t forget to declutter as you go – if you have children, it may be worth turning tidying into a fun game and getting them to take all their scattered toys up to their bedrooms or play area out of the way. After all, the last thing you want is for your guests to trip over a misplaced toy!

Tableware
Although paper plates and plastic cups are great for kid’s parties, as you get older, you begin to appreciate the finer things in life. Over time, glassware replaces the paper plates of your childhood, calling for a good host to check up on the amount and quality of glassware and tableware you have available for guests to use at the party. Make sure that you have enough before the party starts to avoid having to spend the evening in the kitchen washing up all night! Plus, for a really special touch, why not invest in some LSA champagne flutes to add a touch of class to the party?
Decorations
Is the party in aid of a specific theme or event? It can be a really fun and personal touch to add some individual details to your décor in honour of the event. Posters, banners, balloons and table decorations are a great way to personalise the party and make sure everyone feels comfortable and invited within your home.

Seating
Seating for guests is a vital aspect, but one which can often get overlooked as hosts focus on other parts of the party planning process. It is a good idea to ensure you know how many guests to expect beforehand so you can plan ahead and ensure you have enough seating ready for when they arrive. In addition, it is also worth thinking about the type of seating which will be appropriate for the event. For example, bean bags and low chairs are great for kids, but not so good when your guests are trying to sit down and eat a meal.

Don’t sweat the party planning – once you have decided on all of the finer details and followed the checklist to ensure that everything is ready, the only thing left to do is to sit back, relax and have a great time!
