Latest In Beauty 'Build Your Own Box'

Monday, November 05, 2018
Today's post is in collaboration with Latest In Beauty, who I've been lucky enough to work with previously. I'm reviewing one of their build your own boxes – there are 3 to choose from with the cheapest being £16 and the most expensive being £25, I have kindly been sent the latter. For £16 you can choose up to 3 products from their selection, for £22 you can choose a selection of six products and lastly for £25 you can choose up to 9 products from the website to include in your box.

We all know that I love subscription boxes, especially beauty subscription boxes but one of my negatives when it comes to subscription boxes in general is that sometimes you will receive items you are not interested in or that aren't suitable for you; however that is not an issue with the Latest In Beauty boxes as you can choose all of the items you want to receive. I was lucky enough to choose nine items which is the beauty guru box at £25.
There are so many items that you can choose from which range in size, value, shade and design. Categories range from makeup and skincare to snacks, tools, body and hair products as well as nail polish, tea, hair ties, and many more. The selection of product changes every so often so you need to check back onto the website to see the new items that have been added. There are always new items being added and I'm really happy with the selection of products that I was able to choose from the ones available at the time.

I think there is such a great selection of products, especially more every day and toiletry type products. I chose a couple of skincare items, nail polish duos, hair ties, a handcream, body scrub and more. I also think that the range of brands is fantastic as you get some very well-known brands alongside cruelty free or more natural brands which I think is great. Everything came really well presented and packaged so I think it would make a great gift for someone this Christmas, particularly as you can curate the box for a specific person for a specific price.
My favourite item from the box has to be the Sally Hansen miracle gel nail polish duo. I chose one in the Jingle Red Rock shade option and the other in the Shimmer Me Timbers shade option, my favourite definitely has to be the red shade which I've been wearing constantly recently. You can see the shade in action in the first photo in this post! I have wanted to try these miracle gel polishes for so long as I've heard great things about their longevity and they definitely live up to the hype for me as the red shade has lasted on my nails so well so far.

Another product I've been loving is the Sanctuary Spa body scrub, it's been one of my favourite brands for so many years and I cannot recommend their products enough! Also the PopBands hair ties are another product I've used before and I'm so happy to have more as they are great hair ties that don't give me a headache.
Lastly for the products I've already tried before, the Biore deep cleansing pore strips which were everywhere in the 90s and something I used so much at that time! I haven't used pore strips in so long and I wanted to see how my adult self got on with them compared to teenage Heather who used to use them constantly! I have the new limited edition animal print ones and they look so cute, well as cute as pore strips can be.

I chose some products from the website for my box that I've already tried and loved but I also wanted to try some new products and brands – that's what's great about these boxes as there are so many options to choose from. The first is the Hill & Noble orange blossom and mandarin hand cream in the cutest and most colourful package. I love hand creams, I use them all the time as my eczema dries out my hands so much and I always need to use a hand cream! This one smells so nice, it has a lovely texture and so far it's been a great addition to my handbag.
One of the things I love about the website is that you can go to a detailed product description for each item before you add it to your basket. The description also includes the size of the product - some are smaller than others and some of the items are even full-size. So if you want the best value for money you can choose the larger items; however I chose the lavender and geranium hair and body bar by Friendly Soap even though it was only 20g as I thought it would be a great option for travelling.

Some of the items I chose are still available on the website along with a range of new products but one that sadly isn't available anymore is the Kitsch hair ties which come in cute glittery neutral shades. I thought these would be great for every day as they look similar to Popbands in that I don't think they'll give me a headache as I wear them.

Overall I absolutely love the concept of these build your own boxes as it means that you're never disappointed with the items included because you choose them all! I also love the range of brands, the variety of products and the option of a lot of full-size products to choose from. Everything came well packaged and I'm so happy with all of the items I chose for my box. I think £25 for the 'beauty guru' box, is a great price for the amount of products I chose particularly as some of them full-size such as the nail polish duos, hand cream and more.

Have you bought anything from Latest In Beauty? Will you be building your own box?

  10. I definitely favour building your own box over 'surprise' subscription services. I got so sick of the same brands popping up month after month.
