Spring OOTD ft. Joy The Store

Wednesday, May 04, 2016
You have no idea how much out of my comfort zone this outfit is, I mean, there are three colours and bright colours at that - the brightest colour I wear is denim...However one of my new year's resolutions was to wear more colour and it is spring *apparently* so it seems like a great time to add  some colour to my wardrobe.

I was kindly sent a couple of items from the lovely people at Joy The Store and I'm SO happy with them. I chose the *Brave Soul Alisha Smock Dress (£25) in a size Small which is just the style of dress that I love! The smock style is floaty, summery but it's still flattering and perfect for concealing food babies, yes, this is a thing I think about them choosing dresses...

I love the print, it is different to anything else I have in my wardrobe and it will be perfect for a summer holiday as it's lightweight and airy. I'm really petite but the dress is a good length on me as it falls just above my knees. The overall size is perfect too and I'd definitely recommend this dress!
I also received the adorable *Louche Ives Cardigan (£30) in a gorgeous sunshine yellow shade that is so far out of my grey, black and navy comfort zone but I love it! I think the, please excuse this phrase, pop of colour is perfect paired with a relatively neutral outfit. The cardigan is so soft, it's perfect for spring in England were it's sunny but still a little chilly *whenever you want to warm up, English weather, whenever you want!*.

The cardigan has adorable bows over the poppers, the poppers are so much better than the fiddly tiny buttons on the other cardigans I have. It is a little short and I usually go for longer cardigans, but this will be perfect for spring/summer.

Overall, I'm really happy with both of the items from Joy The Store, I can't recommend them enough! Here's my mini wish list:

What do you think of my outfit? Have you bought anything from Joy The Store?

M+M Direct OOTD
Spring is here and summer is on it's way (apparently, although the weather in England hasn't got the message yet) so I'm trying to incorporate a little bit of colour into my regular rotation of black, white, navy and grey. When the lovely people at M & M Direct got in touch about reviewing a couple of items from their website, I couldn't say no!

I have been loving longline jumpers for the past few months, they are so cosy and work as dresses for me - they are just so quick and easy to throw on. I have also been a little obsessed with fedoras and this plain black one from H&M is perfect.
M+M Direct OOTD
Firstly, I chose the *Firetrap Womens Dagney Cardigan (£12.99, Grape Leaf, RRP £69.99) in the UK size 8 although I think I should have gone a size down as it is a little loose so it makes me look bigger and bulkier than I am *cries* but I will still get so much use out of this cardigan as it is incredibly cosy and soft and I work from home so this will be a staple for me. Also I adore the colour, I think it brings out the red tones in my hair which I love!

It is a waterfall style cardigan which is a flattering cut and it has faux leather edging which adds an interesting detail. I'd definitely recommend it and I think the clearance price is just fantastic so if you like this cardigan then definitely check out the M&M Direct website as I don't know how long it will be on sale for.

I also received the *Onfire Womens Sweater Cream/Navy (£12.99) in a UK size 10 and you know me, I adore stripes so obviously I had to add yet another stripy jumper to my stripe filled wardrobe (I have a problem). I love this longline jumper, it is a short dress on me which is perfect and I've been wearing it with slouchy cardigans, leggings or tights and block heel ankle boots - my favourite combination! I have a UK size 10 and it fits really well and you can't go wrong with stripes!

What do you think of my OOTD? Have you bought anything from M&M Direct?

- OOTD: MOSI -

Thursday, January 09, 2014
Last weekend myself, my sister and my parents went to MOSI - the museum of science and industry in Manchester. I have been going since I was a small child but I haven't been a few years until now. It is so different but I would definitely recommend visiting this amazing museum. This is not a sponsored post. Here is my outfit of the day.

My jacket is my Forever21 (sale, a while ago), jeans are my trusty Dorothy Perkins Petite Skinny Jeans, my stripe breton top is a new buy from Missguided (£9.99), boots are from La Redoute and my bag is from the previous Asos sale.

The main reason we went to the museum is because they had a exhibition called 'Brains' on - it ended on the 4th. Sadly you couldn't take any photographs in the Brains exhibit. As I have just graduated with a psychology degree I was really interested in going to see this exhibit. I wasn't disappointed! There was a large section on phrenology which I wasn't that interested in but then there was a model of Einstein's brain, a piece of William Burkes actual brain! (if you don't know who William Burke is, you need to look it up, he was a grave robber and murderer and along with William hare killed 16 people). There is a great movie about Burke and Hare with Simon Pegg in it, I love it!

The 'brains' exhibit also had a piece from Gunter Von Hagens work (body works) which was a cross section of a human - an actual human, although as with all of his work the tissue etc is now plastic but it is still amazing to see in real life. I wanted to see the Body Works collection/exhibition when it came to Manchester a few years ago. Overall, it was a great exhibit!

We also went to the see the new 'ice labs' exhibition although for me personally it was a bit boring. Then we visited a section of the museum that I have visited so many times as a child - the 'underground manchester' area which is full of information about Manchester from viking opposition, roman occupation, engineering, sewers and so much more - there is a creepy dark tunnel with rats sounds that you have to walk through - I was terrified of this as a child! Finally we went to the air and space building which contains so many aeroplanes and working stream trains/engines.

There is my outfit and a bit about the museum of science and industry - if you are ever in Manchester, I would definitely recommend it. There is something for everyone with lots of new and different exhibits for children, teens and adults.

- OOTD: Sale Shopping -

Sunday, December 29, 2013
I went to Manchester shopping today, I usually don't brave the sales this close to new year as it is usually incredibly busy with sale shoppers - especially as Manchester town centre has soooo many shops! Today was rather quiet at first though and I bought a few things from Primark (gotta love Primark, so many items were on sale too!). I received a couple of comments for more outfit of the day posts so here is my sale shopping OOTD.
Photos taken using my iPad mini
My jacket is from Forever21 and it is a couple of years old, I rarely wear it but I have been loving it recently. It has military style buttons and an incredibly soft faux fur collar. I think I got it in the sale for around £17 at the time. My deep burgundy thin jumper is from H&M, I love it - I have it in a few other colours, they may still be online. Jeans are plain black petite skinnys from Asos a while ago. Finally my boots, they are a recently Asos sale buy (I posted a pic on Instagram of them) and they were reduced from £50 to £25 - I freakin' love them! I'm calling them my 'Noel Fielding boots' as they look like ones he wears (If you don't know who noel fielding is, shame on you - you need to check out The Mighty Boosh tv show). I might have to get another pair as a back up as I have tiny UK size 1/2 feet so it is difficult for me to find shoes/boots.

As for my hair and makeup - I just used the Bumble and Bumble thickening creme contour in my hair (no styling tools needed, it is my bed hair). Nails = Loreal Riche 402. And for perfume I have been loving Burberry Body.

There is my OOTD, what do you think? Also would you like to see more outfit posts? x

OOTD: Saddleworth

Thursday, November 14, 2013
On sunday myself, my parents and my sister who came back home from uni for the weekend went to Saddleworth. Saddleworth is in Oldham in Manchester - it was about 5/6 degrees celcius on the day we went so it was pretty chilly! Thanks to my sister who took the photographs and video clips. The landscape around this area is just gorgeous with rolling fields, moores and lots of green areas.

My outfit of the day - Jeans: Dorothy perkins, Jumper: Primark (new), Jacket: Promod, Boots: Fitflop, Snood: Primark.

My new favoruite buy of the past few weeks probably has to be my new jumper from Primark, I went to Primark on saturday (9th) and they had some gorgeous jumpers and christmas stock in. This jumper is grey speckled, super smooth/soft and it has a faux leather trim around the neckline which I love! Then I wore my trusty Dorothy Perkins petite skinny jeans which are amazing - if you are looking for a very long lasting pair of jeans that don't really lose their shape then I would highly recommend these (and they are super cheap too). For boots I wore my black Fitflop mukluk boots which I have had for a couple of years now and they are super comfy and go with everything during the autumn/winter. Then I just wore my sale faux leather jacket from the french store Promod and my old primark black snood as I said it was really quite cold!

OOTD: Rain Rain Go Away

Tuesday, July 02, 2013
I thought I would post my outfit of the day, I quite liked it! It has been raining for the past few days in Manchester which is depressing and to top it off I had a contact lens check eye test today as well...how exciting is my life!
Well here is my outfit! Photographs taken by my sister using my new iPad mini (which I lOVE). My jeans are from Dorothy Perkins, they are the petite skinny jeans (£15) and I couldn't recommend these jeans enough! My boots are from La Redoute (old) and I love them, they go with everything but I am looking for more, as you can't have enough boots and shoes, am I right? Jumper is from H&M (old), I think I bought it in the sale last year but H&M always have striped jumpers - oh and they have a really good sale on now. Finally my bag is from Newlook a while ago but there are lots of brown gorgeous bags on Newlook.

Hope you like my OOTD post, look out for some sale haul posts coming this week! x

OOTD #2

Saturday, May 11, 2013
We went shopping in Bury today, we went to topshop, primark, marks and spencers - myself and my sister spent quite a lot in primark...oops. Here is my outfit of the day! Photographs taken by my sister, Aimee (iPhone 5).
Skinny Jeans: Dorothy Perkins Skinny Petite Jeans
Top: Black cotton/silk top from Dorothy Perkins
Jacket: Promod Faux Leather Biker Jacket
Snood: Accessorize Snood (sale)
Sunglasses: Primark
Boots: La Redoute

I love my biker jacket, especially with skinny jeans, I think it just looks so chic and effortless. I have all browns/blacks/navy on today so the pop of bright coral with the snood makes it looks a bit more spring/summer. My nail polish is also a bright shade, it is 'amaretto crush' from the new MUA polish range - I am definitely getting some more of these polishes! I bought these sunglases today from Primark, they were only £1 and I LOVE them!

OOTD #1

Saturday, April 13, 2013
We went to the Trafford Centre today, which is a massive shopping centre with a titanic style eating area, roman like columns, angels and water fountains - not to mention lots and lots and lots of shops! It was very busy when we went today but I did manage to get some goodies, firstly, here is my outfit of the day. Oh and we saw three Buddist monks there too, dressed in orange, not something you see everyday in Manchester. And the Elite Model casting were there too.
As you can see from the labels above my blazer was from Forever 21 (a while ago but you may be able to find it in store - I didn't see it in the F21 store in the Trafford centre though). My top is a short sleeve breton/french stripe top from Monki - an amazing brand, I love their tops! My jeans are the ones I always wear from Dorothy Perkins, the skinny petite jeans. My shoes are dark brown ballet pumps from La Redoute. Finally, my bag is from Urban outfitters (bought last year, or the year before) and I love it!

I hope you are all having a great day/evening - stay tuned for my recent purchases post and my week in photographs post! x

Face and outfit of the day: ft. *Firmoo Glasses

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Here is my makeup for the day, featuring my Firmoo glasses that I received today (full review coming soon). This FOTD (face of the day) also features some of the new makeup products I received over the past two weeks.
1. Maybelline Watershine Lip Gloss (shade Frozen Watermelon): My mum bought this for me a couple of weeks ago and I really like it. It is a gorgeous pinky peach shade which looks very pretty on the lips. It applies well, it makes the lips look glossy and fuller. Although the smell/taste is not nice at all, in my opinion.

2. The Body Shop Moisture Foundation (shade 02): I bought this a few days ago and I have only tried it twice but I do like it so far. It matches me well, it applies well with my Cosmo sponge and it is quite dewy looking on the skin. Full review after I have tried it more.

3. Laura Geller Inkwell Waterproof Liner (Black): I received this in my March Birch Box a couple of days ago. I love the brush in the lid and this liner is just so quick and easy to apply which is why I am reaching for this product again.

4. Collection 200 Lipstick (shade tea rose): I bought this from Morrisons about a week ago. It applies well and it is just a pretty, fresh everyday shade. It is easy to wear and works with everything!

5. Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream: This is a sample that I had in my Selfridges beauty advent calendar. I have been using it for about a week and I really like it - it doesn't irritate my skin, even though my eczema has flared up for the past two weeks. Moisturising but light and it smoothes the skin quickly and easily.

6. Cosmopolitan Beauty Sponge: I have gone though about five or six of these foundation sponges and I just love them. As my eczema has been a pain for the past two weeks I have only been able to use this damp sponge to apply my foundation - love it.
Here is the results of my makeup and here are my new glasses from Firmoo. I received my glasses yesterday and I LOVE them! They fit so well and they are prescription! Cannot recommend these glasses enough and the delivery was very quick - full review coming soon.
And finally my outfit of the day (OOTD) featuring my Firmoo glasses and my new Topshop sale jeans. I bought the jeans from the online Topshop sale last week and they arrived a couple of days ago - very happy with them and they were only £25 which is cheap for Topshop jeans. My top is from newlook and my ballet pumps are from La Redoute - in the sale.

Snow Day and OOTD!

Monday, January 21, 2013
Today I was supposed to be going to university for the full day but as you can probably tell from the photographs below and the news reports that...it has snowed! Finally a good amount of snow has fallen on Manchester! The snow hasn't stopped falling here since last evening so my lectures today have been cancelled and the campus has been closed! SNOW DAY!
This is what I woke up to - white, white everywhere and a lot of ice too. The snow does look incredibly pretty on the ground and trees but it is not so great to trudge through! Here are some photographs of the snow where I am and an outfit of the day too!
Here is my snow day outfit! Grey long sleeve top: Primark ages ago. Coat: Dorothy Perkins. Jeans: Dorothy Perkins. Boots: La Redoute. Camera: Nikon L120.
Snow times - my sister and I having a snowball fight - it didn't last long, its very cold outside! The snow on the grass was really deep and while we were taking pictures it was still snowing - it hasn't stopped! The multicoloured bag on the table is my 'empties bag', I was taking photographs of my empties and January favourites in the snow!
I didn't realise how red my hair looked until I went outside and it was like BAM! I hope everyone has a great snow day, if you are in the UK (or anywhere else where it is snowing..)! I will hopefully post my late week in photographs tomorrow and the last of my sale haul posts too - including some Shu Uemura, Superdrug and Urban Retreat buys!
