Today's post is a short and sweet look at some of the gorgeous items of clothing from Awesome Jade that are on my very long winter wish list! Winter isn't my favourite season but I do love all of the cosy interiors and clothing for the colder months, especially the cute jumpers, cardigans and knitted dresses that are ideal for winter. 

*Gaston Luga Classy Backpack (RRP £95 - sale price £76)

One of their gorgeous backpacks I wanted to recommend is the 'classy' backpack in black which I was very kindly sent. The backpack features adjustable shoulder straps, a hidden back pocket and padded interior that fits most 11" to 13" laptops or tablets. It also has a very classic Scandinavian minimalist design which I adore and it is very comfortable to wear unlike almost every other backpack I've worn. The size is fantastic as it fits everything I need including my iPad, books and essentials so I think it would be ideal for commuting, students or for travelling (when it is safe to do so). 

Autumn is my favourite time of the year for countless reasons but one of them includes the fashion trends and layering needed for the cosy colder months. Autumn is the perfect combination of crisp, clear days and chilly temperatures but it isn't too cold so layering is essential. Thankfully Katch Me has a great range of items that are ideal for layering during the autumnal months, as well as a plethora of cosy loungewear that I think we all need right now!

*Green and Yellow Check Flannel (£9.99, sale)

Let's start with the base layer of a plain tee and an oversized flannel shirt, an easy combination for casual autumn days when the weather isn't too chilly. You can also add on a jacket or scarf for colder days. I love the flannel shirt, I used to wear them constantly in college and university but I need to start wearing them again as I love the way they look especially during autumn. I think plaid, flannel, check or tartan (whichever word you want to use) is the quintessential autumn print and it is the perfect thrown on extra layer. 

*Blue Oversized Distressed Denim Jacket (£16.99, sale)

I have wanted a denim jacket for years, probably for ten or so years, but I didn't know if it would suit me so I never bought one; therefore I was very happy to try this gorgeous distressed jacket from Katch Me. I love the shade of denim, along with the distressed and ripped details. I ordered a Small or UK 8 in all three items and I think I would recommend ordering your usual size for the oversized look or you can order a size down to make it a little more fitted. I love all of the items within today's post but I think the flannel shirt and this denim jacket are definitely my favourites and I'd highly recommend them!

Last but not least, an item from their loungewear range, which I also ordered in a Small (or UK 8) but I think it would be best to size up, if you want it to be a bit more comfortable and oversized, in my opinion. I love the shade, it is a very easy and comfort item to have for cosy, casual days. All of their loungewear looks so cosy and I definitely have my eye on a few other pieces including their cropped teddy fur hoodie and chunky knit co-ord. Overall, I'm happy with all three items from Katch Me but I particularly love the jacket and flannel shirt which I've been wearing so much already this autumn.

Autumn is here and that means the festive season is fast approaching and with it comes mulled everything, Christmas present buying and festive parties! I love the trends for this time of the year as they usually involve cosy knitwear, teddy coats, boots of all kinds and pretty party dresses. There are so many trends for AW19 that I love so I wanted to share a few of my favourite general autumn winter trends as well as some of my picks for the perfect party dresses.

Check & Plaid

Check prints, plaid and tartan are always acceptable at this time of the year and 2019 is no different. I personally love check printed scarves for the autumn/winter months but clashing check prints were found on the runway at A.W.A.K.E, Marta Jakubowski and Ashley Williams too. You can find a range of gorgeous (and a few unique) check print clothing and accessories on very.co.uk such as a beautiful scarf pictured above!

Yellow & Mustard

Another trend that is synonymous with the autumnal months are shades of olive, rust, camel and of course, mustard. I've been on the look out for a yellow or mustard coat for years but I can never find one that fits all of my coat buying boxes - I'm quite particular when it comes to coats. Shades of yellow were to be found as sunny yellow dresses at Marc Jacobs and yellow sophisticated daywear could be found at Fendi and Balenciaga to add a little sunshine into those grey autumn/winter days.

Brown Outerwear

Lastly as well as deconstructed knitwear at Burberry, beige shades at Valentino and autumnal florals at Erdem, one of my favourite AW19 trends has to be natural toned outerwear. Simone Rocha, Jonathan Cohen and Rejina Pyo all showcased various shades of natural camel, beige and brown outerwear that is perfect for autumn. I personally have a few coats on my current wish list, including a cute brown teddy coat.

Knitted Dresses 

Now onto my party dress picks that are ideal for the colder months and paired with a waist cinching belt (as seen at JW Anderson and Tibi), highlighter coloured heels (as seen at Emilio Pucci and Saint Laurent) or an oversized bag (as seen at Michael Kors and Lacoste), you can add an element of the biggest trends for AW19 to your party dress.

I love knitted dresses and I definitely don't own enough, especially as it has started to turn very chilly in rainy Manchester! The dress I'm drawn to the most is definitely the first option, the V by Very button Neck Detail Knitted Dress which would be perfect with knee high boots and a faux leather jacket.

Little Black Dress (with a twist) 

You can never go wrong with a little black dress, especially if it has a unique twist, detail or shape! Sparkles are so timeless particularly when paired with the classic little black dress. Sparkly dresses were found at Halpern, Molly Goddard and 16Arlington. While I do love a bit of sparkle for the festive season and for New Years eve, I think the second polkadot dress has to be my favourite, along with the button detail midi dress.

Ankle Skimming Dresses 

Last but definitely not least is another great option for autumn, ankle skimming dresses, which never fail to look elegant and put together. Ankle skimming skirts and dresses were found at Carolina Herrera, Brandon Maxwell, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Giambattista Valli. As I'm very petite, I do struggle to find the right length for midi or maxi dresses but I'm going to be on the look out for the perfect petite ankle skimming dress for this years festivities!

There are so many trends each year, with a few repeats such as florals, sparkles and check prints but I personally like to stick to my own style on the whole and add in elements of the latest trends. I love the trends of yellow and beige tones, ankle skimming party dresses and oversized bags this year so I'll be looking for pieces in the upcoming weeks to refresh my autumn/winter wardrobe.

Depending on the sites you visit, you can find outfit options for every body type, style, and country out there. You will have thousands of photographs to look at, which means that there is sure to be outfits that you like.

Blogs

To be able to write so much about fashion, you must have a pretty good fashion sense. This is why style bloggers can be so helpful to you. What separates this source of inspiration from others, however, if that style bloggers are real people. They don’t often have a makeup team or airbrushing to make them look perfect, so the images that you see are much more realistic.

Catalogues

When looking at fashion magazines, you usually have to try to recreate the expensive looks that are shown. If you flick through high street catalogues instead, you know that the clothes you’re looking at are within your price range. This makes it much easier to purchase an exact outfit. Every time you head to a store, therefore, you should pick up any catalogues that you find.

Movies 

From Oscar winners to period pieces, movies are a wonderful place to find outfit inspiration. Production teams have spent thousands on designing all of the outfits that you see, so you can be sure that they directly reflect the personalities of the characters on screen. TV shows go one step further, giving you new ideas with every single episode that airs. If you’re stuck for fashion inspiration, hopefully, you can find some from one of the sources above.

Summer is officially here in the UK and for once, the English weather has received the memo as we've had such gloriously sunny weather over the past week or so! In Manchester (a city known for football, music and...rain), it's been 31 degrees celcius which is almost unheard of! I've had to break out my very minimal summer wardrobe which consists of t-shirts and jeans which aren't heatwave appropriate so thankfully this beautiful, summery and floaty jumpsuit arrived just in time of the sunny weather.

I was very kindly sent the gorgeous pleated strappy jumpsuit in red from J5 Fashion. I have the red version but it also comes in cream. It does only come in one size which isn't ideal but thankfully it fits me quite well apart from the length which I've had to alter (although I am tiny so I think the length will be fine for most people). I'm a UK 8 for reference and the fit is floaty and very comfortable on me.
The jumpsuit has a printed pattern which isn't something I usually like as I think it can look a little too busy and cluttered especially as I'm so petite but I love it on this jumpsuit. I also like the pleated fabric which is lightweight, flowy and ideal for the heatwave and rather unusually sunny weather we're having in the UK and across Europe right now! Additionally, I love the colour even though it's something I wouldn't usually choose as it's quite bright - it's the most summery item of clothing I currently own.

I'm so happy that spring is finally starting and the sun is shining because I'd had enough of the cold, dark months of winter! Spring, along with autumn, is my favourite season as it's just so refreshing, invigorating and signals the start of the warmer weather, brighter days and lighter evenings, the latter is perfect for blog photos! For the first time in quite a few months, I'm actually happy with my photos (you can check them out on my instagram - @ofbeautyand).

I also love this time of year when it comes to clothing as it's still chilly enough for jeans and ankle boots (my go-to outfit) but it's also warm enough to ditch the thick, chunky winter coats or suffocating scarves. I've already started switching to my lighter jumpers and jackets as the weather in Manchester over the past week or so has been so nice, especially today (or it will be yesterday as you're reading this)...it's odd for Manchester to be this sunny.

As well as wanting to buy a fresh selection of new books and spring makeup, I also want to buy a fresh spring wardrobe! As you can probably deduce from my picks above, my spring wardrobe isn't very colourful (nothing in my wardrobe is colourful) but it's lighter, fresher and more spring like than the deluge of wool and chunky knits from the autumn and winter months.

Kture has a wide range of gorgeous designer pieces, so many of which would be ideal for SS19, including some of my picks above. One brand that's new to me and has definitely caught my eye is Kenzo. Kenzo is a brand I've been aware of for years but until now I've never really looked at their items - it was launched back in the 70's and predominantly features Asian inspired prints. The weather over the past couple of days in Manchester has been pretty glorious and I'm hoping that it signifies the premature start of spring because I'm done with winter and I cannot wait for warmer days, sunshine, flowers in bloom and lighter evenings for photos! Along with Autumn, spring is one of my favourite seasons and it is also a popular wedding season. I personally never want to get married but if in a parallel universe I did, then it would either be a spring or autumn wedding.

Today's post features a selection of three wedding guest dresses and outfit ideas for any wedding you have coming up to attend, especially spring or summer wedding although all three of these dresses would be great with a leather (faux, obviously) jacket for colder days. *Dusty Blue Lace Ruffle Dress (£45, UK 8)

Let's start with what is probably my favourite dress of the three but it is very closely followed by the one shoulder green dress (that I definitely needed to iron but I haven't had the time). If you follow me on instagram (@ofbeautyand) then you'll have seen the unboxing earlier in the week and some sneak peeks of the photographs today.

The dress size I have is a UK 8 which is the perfect size for me! In terms of the give, waist size and sleeve length, this dress couldn't have fit me any better. Although as I'm so tiny, the dress is longer on me than the model photographs online but I actually like the length overall. If you're petite as I am then you'll know how difficult it is to find more formal dresses that aren't an awkward length or that don't trail fully on the floor but this one is a great longer option. I wish more clothing stores, particularly ones that specialise in formal dresses, had a petite section!
Usually I wouldn't got for this duck egg blue shade but as always when I'm lucky enough to be gifted clothing items, I opt for something I wouldn't usually go for. I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I love this dress as it features a few things I wouldn't typically like such as the colour, ruffles and the length but I love it. I'm glad that it isn't just solid blue lace, there are black sections which breaks up the pastel blue shade and makes it more wearable (for me anyway).

I think this dress is the perfect for a spring wedding as it has the general wedding outfit categories of featuring lace but it looks more modern compared to most lace dresses I've owned - let's be honest, sometimes lace dresses can look quite austere and old fashioned. I added plain black heels but I think a faux leather jacket or nude heels would be great addition instead.

*Emerald Green One Should Satin Dress (£30)

Another dress that I wouldn't normally choose (although I'm always drawn to items that are this gorgeous deep emerald green shade) and another dress that emphasises how pale I am...I think I could give Voldemort some competition on the ghostly pale front, if I'm honest! Additionally, one shoulder or asymmetric hems are unusual for me too but I think it's quite flattering!

As with the other dresses I chose a UK 8 and this one is a tiny bit tighter and more form fitting (with less give) than the other two so if you are in-between sizes then maybe size up as you can always cinch in the waist with the attached tie to make it a little more flattering and fitted.
I adore the shade of this dress and it's made me want to buy everything in this shade because it's so gorgeous and I don't think I actually own any dresses in this shade. I also love the cut of the dress with it's asymmetric hem which naturally as I'm so tiny is longer on me than it is shown on the site but again I like the length.

I've added my faux leather black jacket with the dress as it is a little big on the chest and I'll need to alter it very slightly. However, I'm very happy with this dress as I think it would make a great all round dress that would be ideal for so many occasions, from spring weddings and birthdays to a graduation party, garden party or even a fancy date night.

*Cape Detail Bodycon Dress (£18)

Last but not least is the more inexpensive dress in todays post and it's also a dress that has reminded me not to take outfit photographs while on my period...that period bloating is insane! Hopefully you can ignore that, even though I can't and focus on this cute little dress. It comes in three shade including mauve, a spring floral print or green so naturally I had to chose the gorgeous green option.

The UK 8 is a good fit, the length is perfect for my petite frame and it is a great dress if you don't love your upper arms. I used to be so self conscious of my upper arms (thankfully I'm less so now I've lost weight) but this dress would have been a miracle a couple of years ago when I could only find sleeveless or cap sleeve dresses...why are cap sleeves a thing, they aren't flattering on anyone, unless you're Kate Moss.
I may already be searching for more dresses in this colour as you're reading this post...I also want a bag in this colour so let me know in the comments below if you've spotted one recently. Overall, I'm so happy with all three of the dresses from Pretty Little Thing (thanks so much) but my favourite has to be the first dress as it's so spring-like to me; however it also ticks all of my very specific boxes when it comes to formal dresses. Winter is definitely here with snow falling around the country but obviously the Manchester weather reuses to take part and stays resolutely rainy, as always. However, it's still very chilly and it's made me realise that I don't have any fully winter proof clothing, particularly more formal clothing. I personally work from home currently but from my time at university, I know how difficult it can be to dress more formally for the winter months!

Dressing for winter and seasonal transition periods can be pretty difficult, especially with the weather we have in England which can be gloriously sunny, then pouring down and maybe throw in some hailstone too...in England it's best to prepare for all weathers which isn't very easy. Winter coats, boots, cosy knitwear and even wellington boots would all make great winter workwear wardrobe essentials.

The Fabric: Leather

You may be thinking, leather is always a fashionable choice, so why is it on the list? The answer: this year, leather has had a makeover. For the upcoming season, picture high gloss finishes and cool vinyl, from dresses to trousers. No matter what item of clothing you choose, to be on-trend, it’s all about how you wear it. Pair with a cable knit jumper for effortless style, or amp it up with a structured trench.

The Skirt: Pleats and Sheers 

Fabulously feminine, a well-cut pleated skirt never goes out of style. This year, they’ve been seen on autumn/winter catwalks from the likes of Valentino, J W Anderson and Balenciaga. For a tough edge, go for a structured pleat and pair with a t-shirt. Or for a romantic touch, layer up with a sheer lace or tulle design.

One of my favourite brands has to be Cath Kidston! I have so many of their mugs and kitchen items; I also love their bags and stationery. I had no idea that they had a range of watches, don't tell me I'm the only one who didn't know this! I was very kindly sent one of their watches from the super lovely people over at First Class Watches.

*Cath Kidston Rose Gold Bracelet Floral Pink Dial (£67)

I was able to choose the watch that I wanted and I opted for the stunning Cath Kidston Rose Gold Bracelet Floral Pink Dial Watch, phew. There are quite a few to choose from, even though I've never come across them before so it was a difficult choice to make. The following Cath Kidston watches were in the running too: CKL051RGM, CKL038CRG, CKL035CRG and CKL037RGM but I'm so happy with my choice.
The Cath Kidston watch I chose is rose gold in colour, it's splash resistant and features a gorgeous floral design. The box the watch comes in is so cute too, it's a red and white polkadot box with Cath Kidston on the front with a little information about the Cath Kidston brand on the back. Inside the box there's a cute red cushion on which the watch is displayed so visually it's such a beautiful gift, for yourself or someone else. Additionally it comes with a mini guarantee and instruction booklet.

As with all watches, this one is a little too big on my teeny tiny wrists but I'm going to get a couple of links removed so it will fit perfectly. The watch itself is pretty, I adore the rose gold strap combined with the pink watch face, it's perfect for spring/summer. It is an ideal casual but beautiful watch and I know so many of my friends and family would love to receive it as a gift!
I adore the design of this watch along with colours of the face - it's just so gorgeous and very Cath Kidston. Cath Kidston designs are so gorgeous and when you look at the watch you can instantly tell that it's a Cath Kidston design (and the box is similar to some of the other gift boxes of hers).

I cannot recommend this watch enough, it would make a lovely gift especially for those who love Cath Kidston as a brand and their prints. I adore the design, especially the watch face and the rose gold shade. I also cannot recommend First Class watches enough, they have an amazing range of watches and brands!

It's coming up to that time of the year again when not only are race days (the most famous being the grand national) starting but garden parties, spring weddings and more are coming. They aren't here quite yet in Manchester as I did have to dodge snow showers while shooting these outfits. I'm working with the lovely people at Pretty Little Thing for this outfit post featuring ideas for various spring events that you might have coming up over the next few months.

*Pretty Little Thing Pink Velvet Cape Blazer (£13 - SALE)

Now, if you've been following my blog or social media for a while, you'll know that both of these outfits are a little out of my comfort zone but I love them both. The most un-Heather item is this crushed velvet cape blazer...You put it on just like a blazer but it has deep slits down both arms so it is almost like a structured cape. I have a UK size 8 and it fits well on the whole but it is a little too large on me. I love the design, it's something very different to what I'd usually go for and the shade is gorgeous. I love blush pink all year round but especially during the spring months. I know that florals for spring isn't groundbreaking but they are pretty and great for a spring event!

*Pretty Little Thing Cream Floral Kimono Culottes  (£8 - SALE)

Next up is probably my favourite item and again something that's well out of my comfort zone in terms of the shades, fabric and design. Usually the most colourful I'll get is navy blue, burgundy or mustard but I do love all of these creamy, botanical and spring like shades! Now, I am ridiculously tiny at only 4ft 11 so these culottes are more of full length trousers (stop laughing!) but I still love how they look.

I've never been a typical 'girly girl' who loves dresses and any kind of event, wedding or party struck fear in me as it would mean that I have to wear a dress but these are a great alternative as they're pretty, spring-like and formal. I do have one issue and it is that the fabric is so sheer therefore you do need a slightly longer jacket! However, I love the fit, the high waist looks so flattering and they're great for the upcoming spring/summer months.

Note to self: Don't eat a huge plate full of pasta before you are going to shoot outfit photos!

*Pretty Little Thing Carley Black Frill Bodycon Dress (£15)

Sorry for the light in these photos, it was snowing on and off all day! Also please ignore the fact that I'm paler than Voldemort...Since losing a total of 24lbs (about 1.7 stone), I'm so much more confident wearing dresses, even bodycon dresses which was unthinkable at the beginning of last year! A little black dress is a wardrobe staple but I've never kept any over the years for various reasons but I think this one will be staying around for a while as it's little more unique, I love the length and frill neck line. I do have to be careful about what I eat in this dress as it isn't forgiving at all and food babies will be very obvious but I love the style, I love how simple it is and I think I'll get so much use out of it in 2018!

*Pretty Little Thing Ephy Gold Plunge Necklace (£5)

Lastly is an item that I completely forgot to photograph and it's a gorgeous, minimal necklace. I don't usually go for gold jewellery but I think it's pretty during the spring months. Minimal jewellery is my go-to and this necklace is perfect - it isn't too long, it's lightweight and comfortable.

Even though it's getting lighter and I cannot wait for spring, we still have a couple of months of winter left as you can tell from the snow days we've been having! I do love clothing and trends during the autumn and winter months and if I could live in jeans, ankle boots and jumpers I would (and I pretty much do)! Here are some of the outfits and items of clothing I've been wearing constantly over the past couple of weeks.

*Lasula Mustard Stripe Detail Cropped Jumper (£26)

Let's start with one of my favourite items! I don't own nearly enough items that are mustard coloured and that needs to change as it's a gorgeous shade especially for the colder months. I have the S/M size which is a great fit for me (I'm a UK 8) and it has that slightly slouchy, relaxed fit jumper for everyday. I love the black and red stripe detail along the sleeves, the soft feel of the jumper and the length which is shorter than most of my other jumpers so it doesn't feel bulky or heavy.

*Lasula Navy V Neck Side Split Jumper (£32)

Another jumper that is perfect for everyday with a slight twist. I love the navy shade, it's a soft jumper that is great under coats as it isn't too thick and I love the asymmetrical side split hem. I usually stay well away from v-neck anything but this one is quite subtle. I've been wearing it constantly around the house and with jeans, ankle boots and my longer pea coats over the past couple of weeks. It's a 'one size' fits all size that is a little too big on me but it just looks like an oversized jumper on me - if you are an 8-12 then it will probably fit well.

*LOTD Navy Quilted Hooded Jacket (£10.50 - SALE)

I've been wearing my cute peacoats constantly but I needed something new and LOTD always have gorgeous coats and jackets at amazing prices - this one, along with many others, are currently on sale so check out their site. I love how simple this jacket is, I know I will get so much use out of it especially as I'm hoping to be more active this year and this jacket will keep me very warm (it's very warm and cosy).

I have the small size which is a great fit for me (I'm a UK 8) and I love the pockets! I have been wearing it when I don't want to wear my longer more structured peacoats as it's so easy to just throw it on especially when it's very chilly as this jacket is surprisingly warm, cosy and comfortable.

*Lasula Red Belted Checked Dress (£30)

How perfect is this dress for the winter! I love checked prints during the autumn and winter months as to me it's so cosy! The material is so soft, it's thicker than I thought it would be and even on snow days it's quite warm. I have a similar dress but it's so thin and very short which makes it almost unwearable so I'm glad that I can replace it with this one which is just gorgeous. It's perfect with cute tights, ankle boots and a faux leather jacket for an easy, no fuss winter outfit. It is another 'one size' fits all item but thankfully the belt makes it easy to adjust to your size.

Before you all start saying that there are still a couple of months of winter left, I know! I usually love winter (and I do love snow days) but I'm so over it now and I cannot wait for bright spring days, flowers coming into bloom and lighter evenings!

However, the transition between winter and spring is so awkward in the UK as we have very chilly winters with a few snowy days and even in the spring it is still chilly but you want to start wearing spring knitwear and shades. I've found some gorgeous winter to spring pieces from Shein that I am drooling over!

I think you can tell that I love anything that is dusty pink or tan and that has stripes...I have a problem. At least half of my wardrobe is striped but I need more and all of these striped and chevron jumpers are so gorgeous - I need them all!

If you follow my blog or social media then you'll have seen my arm knitted pink blanket (that I made) so much and since I made it, I've been obsessed with anything that is dusty pink so it needs to make it's way into my spring wardrobe too.

Today is Christmas Jumper Day which isn't just a day to wear cute Christmas jumpers but it is a time to donate to Save The Children which is a UK based charity that helps children in need all around the world by providing lifesaving treatment and healthcare, education and nutrition projects. Sing loud for all to hear is not the only way to show some Christmas joy, although Buddy would definitely recommend it.

There are so many cute Christmas jumpers out there, some are adorable and festive while others are tacky, generic or itchy, thankfully Absolute Cult has come to the rescue *cue happy festive music* this Christmas season. I was very kindly sent the *Elf Women's Christmas Tree Sweatshirt (£33.99) which I chose in the navy blue colour option although it is also available in black, red, royal blue and grey as well as a range of womens sizes. I chose the medium which is a UK size 10 and on me (I'm a UK 8/10), it fits well although it's a teeny bit oversized and the arms are pretty long.

The jumper is official, branded merchandise with an Elf tag and it's a mix between 80% cotton and 20% polyester. Elf is definitely my favourite Christmas film with no exception, mainly because it's adorable and Will Ferrell is just adorable and so funny as Buddy the Elf!

I love the Elf design of this jumper as it is unlike any other Christmas jumper. It is christmassy but not in a tacky or immediately obvious way and it's such a warm, comfortable jumper that is perfect to throw on with jeans. It features syrup bottles, candy canes, a dancing Buddy the Elf along with his hat and snowflakes. I love the navy blue shade although I like the grey and black options too.
