Dorothy Perkins Haul #1

Thursday, April 03, 2014
At the beginning of the month I won a massive Dorothy Perkins competition on Pinterest - I couldn't believe that I won, I was a ringing everyone to tell them (they just said 'let me guess you won another competition). I am very good at winning competitions recently! I won a £250 Dorothy Perkins voucher and I have only spent £100 of it so far, I can't believe how restrained I have been (go me!). I am giving some of the voucher to my sister but there will be another couple of posts on what I buy with the rest of my voucher. Here are my first four buys - 1 dress, 2 tops and 1 pair of sunglasses.
Outfit one - Dorothy Perkins Petite Stripe Tunic (£24, reduced to £10): This item is still in stock online, I bought it because I do not have anything like it in my wardrobe. It has a shift dress shape so it doesn't have a waistband as all of my other dresses have, it feels slouchy and I LOVE it! I also love the stripes - if you couldn't tell as all of the items in this post are stripy. The faux leather pockets and trim make it look quiet expensive in my opinion. Not everyone likes it though, my sister says it looks like pyjamas! It is made of a thick cotton like material, so comfy. My tights are from *Oroblu and my wedges are from Select (Yoox).

Outfit two - Blue Stripe Jersey Knit Top (£16): This is not in the sale but I had to get it, I adore breton stripe tops, I think they look so french and chic! The top is quite thin and light so it would be great for spring/summer. I paired it with my Asos Petite Black Jeans, Asos Ankle Boots and my new Dorothy Perkins Tort Hawaii Clarkmaster Sunglasses (£8) which I also bought with my voucher. I am a bit unsure if these sunglasses suit me but I like them! Please excuse how massive my hips look in this photo!

Outfit three - Petite Stripe Jersey Knit (£18): This top was also not in the sale and it is almost sold out online, as I am writing this. I love stripes, I think I have an addiction...I love the grey/white marled kind of effect and it is a super soft jumper. It is fairly light and breathable so it would be great for spring. I paired it with my Dorothy Perkins Petite Jeans and my La Redoute Boots.

What do you think of my outfits and new buys? Have you bought anything from Dorothy Perkins recently?

Winter Look book/Recent Buys #1

Tuesday, February 11, 2014
I have been buying a few clothing bits recently in the January sales so I thought I would show you what I would wear them with and combine outfits together to make a winter look book of sorts. You might not be able to get some of the items now as I have bought them over the past two/three weeks.
Outfit one: I love this snood, I was kindly sent it from Powder to review (click here to read my review) - the snood is so cosy and comfy! I think it goes well with a basic casual outfit to add a bit of colour. It is the *Powder Tessa Snood in Lavender (£20)

Top: Newlook / Jacket: Promod / Jeans: Dorothy Perkins / Boots: Asos / Snood/scarf: *Powder.

Outfit two: I cannot resist a sale, especially a sale dress at only £5! Gotta love the Christmas/January sales. I paired my amazing sale bargain dress with my new *Oroblu warm micro fleeced tights from Luxury Legs which I adore - they are the nicest, warmest tights ever! To see my review of the tights, click here.

Jacket: Promod / Dress: Dorothy Perkins / Tights: *Oroblu (on Luxury Legs) / Heels: Newlook.

Outfit three: Now this outfit contains one of my favourite sale buys ever - I bought this longline tweed (esque) coat from the Asos sale and I am in love! I thought it might be too big on my petite frame but I think it looks great! I have paired it with a plain black skater dress from Primark (one of the £5 dresses) and again my amazing *Oroblu micro fleeced tights.

Dress: Primark / Coat: Asos (sale - well not anymore sorry! here) / Tights: Oroblu on Luxury Legs / My heels were bought from Yoox a while ago.

There is the first part of my winter look book/recent buys/haul! What have you been buying in the sales? What do you think of the outfits? x

OOTE: Manchester Christmas Markets

Saturday, November 23, 2013
Myself, my parents and my sister went to Manchester to do some shopping in Primark, Boots and to see the famous Manchester Christmas markets which I have been going to since I was 6/7 years old when they first started! They are celebrating their 15th year in Manchester - stalls from France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, the UK and other European countries are all around the city, along with pretty fairy lights and gorgeous smells of mulled wine, crepes and cinnamon.
We went to the main area at the town hall first and it was INSANE! It was crazy busy, you couldn't move or buy anything, it was a waste of time going to that area. We then went to the 'french stalls' at the Royal exchange and other stalls up to the shambles. The shambles was the best area (as was the french) it wasn't crazy busy and it looked so beautiful. It was pretty and festive however it was -1 degree celcuis which is fairly cold!

I didn't have anything to eat but I did have a Baileys hot chocolate with whipped cream on top (called an angels delight) which was incredible! It was about £6 because you could keep the mug afterwards - or you could give the mug back and get £2 back. The stalls are gorgeous, I also bought from chocolate strawberries as I do every year *drools* if you are planning on going to the Manchester Christmas markets you will not be disappointed, I have been pretty much every year since I was a child - although best not to go on the weekends and avoid the Albert square/town hall area!

I wore my new Primark scarf (£4), my trusty Dorothy Perkins skinny jeans (size 8 for reference), my Promod faux leather jacket, my black La Redoute boots and my bag is from Asos (sale). I think I am going to have a FOTE (face of the evening) from this night posted in a few days with a video tutorial/demo - if you would be interested.
This is my first time using the Youtube video editor, I hope it is ok! Photos and video thanks to my sister using iPhone 5.

Holiday Photo Diary: Saint Petersburg, Russia

Monday, September 09, 2013
This is the first part of my holiday photo diary series, I went on a  royal Caribbean this august and I wanted to share my experience, and outfits, so here is my photo diary for Saint Petersburg, Russia.
We were in Saint Petersburg for two days, it was the highlight of the cruise, in my opinion. For the first day in saint Petersburg we went on a walking tour and the weather was really nice - it was about 23 degrees Celsius and I wore my Dorothy Perkins petite skinny jeans which I love, my H&M black trapeze top (sale) and my trusty La Redoute brown ballet flats which were so comfy - we did a lot of walking!

In the morning we went walking around the field of mars where the eternal fire is, we walked around some streets/souvenir shops and we went to the spilled blood church which is just incredible - we went inside and it is so brightly coloured and breath taking. We went to a gorgeous restaurant afterwards, the décor was amazing and we had tea and Russian pastries. When the first tour finished we went on another on which went on the Russian metro (we went on three royal Caribbean tours in total over the two days because we didn't want to buy visas, so you had to book tours). The metro in saint Petersburg was a little bit scary because there was a lot of people and we were in a group with a guide - it looked a bit strange but I am glad we went on it.

The second day we went on a coach tour which was also really good, and I am glad we were on a coach because for some parts of the day it rained a bit. I wore a white tee, my Topshop Pippa jeans (very old, they don't even make Pippa jeans anymore unfortunately) and my asos aviator jacket which I love and I am so glad I took a jacket with me because even in august it was raining and fairly chilly! We drove past places such as the hermitage/winter palace, saint Isaac's church, the ship that signalled the Russian revolution and other buildings/statues.
I loved saint Petersburg and I definitely want to go back to Russia!

Mercedes-Benz Competition: Summer Style

Tuesday, August 27, 2013
I was contacted by Ally at Mercedes-Benz who emailed me about the Mercedes-Benz Social Reporter campaign that was ending soon! The social reporter campaign focuses on the social reporter in all of us, as we live in an age of facebook, twitter, instagram and youtube, we can connect to the rest of the world in a way we have never been able to before. We can document and share our lives with the world and the social reporter campaign/competition give entrants the opportunity to attend events and document the experience on behalf of Mercedes-Benz. The campaign ends tomorrow at midnight - for more information, click here

My summer look - Gothenburg, Sweden, August 2013
For the campaign you have to show your summer look of 2013, and as I have just came back from an amazing holiday, I thought I would use some of my holiday outfit photographs - this is the outfit that I wore in Gothenburg, Sweden just over a week ago. I greatly underestimated how chilly and changeable the weather would be in Scandinavia and Russia even during the summer so I mainly wore t-shirts, jeans and ballet pumps! I love the laid back, simple and somewhat androgynous style which seems to be the  basis of Scandinavian fashion - and home ware, gotta love Ikea! While travelling in Sweden and Denmark I saw a lot of women wearing gorgeously simple and basic outfits that I loved - simple black skinny jeans and sweaters and lightweight tops and trousers. I adore simple, basic clothing/accessories.

My top is from Monki (an amazing Scandinavian fashion brand), my jeans are from Dorothy Perkins and my bag is from Newlook. My ballet flats, which I wore to death, are from La Redoute. The glasses I am wearing are prescription glasses from a company called Firmoo which I have worked with for months now. Oh and the photographs were taken in the Gothenburg botanical gardens and while on the ship (Royal Caribbean brilliance of the seas) on the way into Gothenburg. And if you didn't already know, I recently had 9 inches cut off my hair for the The Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer - for more information about the trust, click here

Recent Sale Buys: Clothing # 1

Friday, July 05, 2013
Here is one of my recent sale buys from Zara. The sales recently have been fantastic, especially H&M, Zara, Urban Outfitters and Topshop, although most things are already sold out on Topshop!
Zara Star Print Blouse (£19.99, sale): I saw this blouse a while ago on the Zara website and I featured it in one of my wish list posts a while ago and I loved it - then when I saw it on the zara sale for £19.99, I bought it immediately - well, along with four pairs of shoes...oops. I love the blouse, it fits well and it has a cute mini black star print. The blouse is lightweight and sheer so I have to put a white cami underneath it but it is still cute and I wear it tucked into jeans as it is a bit too long on me. I am definitley taking this on holiday with me to northern europe in august. I can't find this on the zara website (UK) anymore but you may find it in stores.

I am also wearing my trusty Dorothy perkins skinny petite jeans (£15 or two pairs for £25) and my Newlook black/cork wedges.

OOTD: Rain Rain Go Away

Tuesday, July 02, 2013
I thought I would post my outfit of the day, I quite liked it! It has been raining for the past few days in Manchester which is depressing and to top it off I had a contact lens check eye test today as well...how exciting is my life!
Well here is my outfit! Photographs taken by my sister using my new iPad mini (which I lOVE). My jeans are from Dorothy Perkins, they are the petite skinny jeans (£15) and I couldn't recommend these jeans enough! My boots are from La Redoute (old) and I love them, they go with everything but I am looking for more, as you can't have enough boots and shoes, am I right? Jumper is from H&M (old), I think I bought it in the sale last year but H&M always have striped jumpers - oh and they have a really good sale on now. Finally my bag is from Newlook a while ago but there are lots of brown gorgeous bags on Newlook.

Hope you like my OOTD post, look out for some sale haul posts coming this week! x

Recent Purchases Outfit #4

Tuesday, May 28, 2013
Here is the fourth part of my recent purchases outfit look book thing, it is all about jackets with this post - I bought a couple of new formal style jackets from H&M recently, here is the second.
1. H&M Jacket (beige): I can't find this jacket on the website anymore - there was this white/beige one (with metallic threads), a black, pink and mint green one. They were only £12 each and I bought this one and I should have bought the black one too as I love this jacket. The metallic threads in it are that too visible so it still looks casual with jeans.

2. MUA polish in the shade 'amaretto crush': I bought this from superdrugs website and it was only £1. I like the application, I love the shade and I love the wear - it lasted five days with only 1/2 small chips (and no top coat). I have bought another one in the shade 'plum noir' which is a dark purple but I wouldn't recommend it as the wear isn't as good at all and the polish is streaky even with two coats.

*Jeans from Dorothy perkins and wedges from Debenhams*

Recent Purchases Outfit #1

Monday, May 13, 2013
I haven't done a post like this before, I have done outfits of the days and hauls but this is kind of a look book style post. These series of posts show the clothing items, accessories and shoes that myself and my sister have bought over the past two weeks. Some of the clothes are for our holiday in august - hope you enjoy this new post. This will be a series showing outfits of the new things I we bought in a look book style post - there will be 6 or 7 of these posts.
1. H&M Printed Jacket (Paid, £12): I bought this jacket from the H&M online sale - I had a code that reduced the price even more! It looked more red online but I still love it. It is an Aztec/tribal print with red, navy, and white design. It is a waterfall style jacket, it is a really smooth silky fabric and I love the tab detailing on the shoulders.

2. Primark Grey Speckled T-Shirt (£4.00): I bought this on Saturday from Primark in Bury however it looks like the speckled T-Shirts in Topshop - which are £16+. It is really cute and super comfy and it has a slightly dipped hem. Although I would say with these cheap tops from Primark that they are a bit sheer but they are not so sheer that they cannot be worn on their own.

* Jeans from Dorothy Perkins and shoes from Debenhams *

OOTD #1

Saturday, April 13, 2013
We went to the Trafford Centre today, which is a massive shopping centre with a titanic style eating area, roman like columns, angels and water fountains - not to mention lots and lots and lots of shops! It was very busy when we went today but I did manage to get some goodies, firstly, here is my outfit of the day. Oh and we saw three Buddist monks there too, dressed in orange, not something you see everyday in Manchester. And the Elite Model casting were there too.
As you can see from the labels above my blazer was from Forever 21 (a while ago but you may be able to find it in store - I didn't see it in the F21 store in the Trafford centre though). My top is a short sleeve breton/french stripe top from Monki - an amazing brand, I love their tops! My jeans are the ones I always wear from Dorothy Perkins, the skinny petite jeans. My shoes are dark brown ballet pumps from La Redoute. Finally, my bag is from Urban outfitters (bought last year, or the year before) and I love it!

I hope you are all having a great day/evening - stay tuned for my recent purchases post and my week in photographs post! x

Snow Day and OOTD!

Monday, January 21, 2013
Today I was supposed to be going to university for the full day but as you can probably tell from the photographs below and the news reports that...it has snowed! Finally a good amount of snow has fallen on Manchester! The snow hasn't stopped falling here since last evening so my lectures today have been cancelled and the campus has been closed! SNOW DAY!
This is what I woke up to - white, white everywhere and a lot of ice too. The snow does look incredibly pretty on the ground and trees but it is not so great to trudge through! Here are some photographs of the snow where I am and an outfit of the day too!
Here is my snow day outfit! Grey long sleeve top: Primark ages ago. Coat: Dorothy Perkins. Jeans: Dorothy Perkins. Boots: La Redoute. Camera: Nikon L120.
Snow times - my sister and I having a snowball fight - it didn't last long, its very cold outside! The snow on the grass was really deep and while we were taking pictures it was still snowing - it hasn't stopped! The multicoloured bag on the table is my 'empties bag', I was taking photographs of my empties and January favourites in the snow!
I didn't realise how red my hair looked until I went outside and it was like BAM! I hope everyone has a great snow day, if you are in the UK (or anywhere else where it is snowing..)! I will hopefully post my late week in photographs tomorrow and the last of my sale haul posts too - including some Shu Uemura, Superdrug and Urban Retreat buys!
