My Trusty Sunflower Face + Body Oil

Thursday, April 16, 2015
If you've been following my blog for a while, you may know that I have been loving all of the body care products that the brand My Trusty Sunflower have brought out over the past few months. I have reviewed their lavender hand cream (here) and more recently I have reviewed their body butter (here). I love both products and they have made it into monthly favourites posts, so when they released a face and body oil I had to try it!

The *My Trusty Sunflower Face & Body Oil (£12.99, 50ml) contains so many lovely natural ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, rosemary leaf oil, grape seed oil and fruit oils. I have been using this oil both as a face and body oil, however mostly for the body. TMI alert, I have been shaving my legs a lot more recently as I'm trying out a HPL permanent hair removal system and after shaving I have been covering my legs in this oil and it has definitely helped add the moisturise to my skin and it's been reducing the irritation and flakiness.

The oil absorbs very quickly, I was surprised at how quickly it absorbs. It also smells amazing as all of the My Trusty Sunflower products do and it is lovely to apply. The oil feels very smoothing and nourishing but it isn't heavy or greasy. The oil absorbs very effectively, so much so that I have been adding a couple of drops to my daily hand cream (the Yes! Nurse hand cream) to make it even more nourishing but I can start typing again soon after massaging it into the skin.

I have been using it on my face as well and it doesn't irritate my eczema at all. I either use it before my moisturiser or I mix it with my moisturiser and it just adds a boost of hydration, leaving my skin smooth and moisturised. I cannot recommend this oil enough, even the packaging is great; also as with all My Trusty Sunflower products, the purchase of these products supports NHS patient care. Overall rating: ★★★★★, 5/5.

Review: My Trusty Sunflower Body Butter

Monday, November 03, 2014
If you have been following my blog for a while you may recognise this brand as I have reviewed their hand cream in the lavender scent before (here) which I adore! They have recently brought out a body butter, which I was so excited to try as I love the hand cream and I have actually used up the whole tube so I need to buy a new one asap!

I have the *My Trusty Sunflower Body Butter (£7.99) which contains sunflower oil, coconut oil, bergamot fruit oil, shea butter and many other fantastic ingredients. The body butter looks very average, off white and very thick. However, the scent is heavenly, it smells citrusy but musky and comforting as well, it is a gorgeous scent especially for this time of year. The body butter applies smoothly and easily despite it being so thick and it moisturises so well without leaving my skin feeling greasy or tacky. As well as a general body butter I have been using it as a foot cream and occasionally as a hand cream - it is an amazing all round moisturiser which is super hydrating and non-irritating even on my eczema!

I have tried so many body butters, including pretty much all of The Body Shop butters so I know my stuff and this body butter in my opinion is better than the body shop body butters. Also to make it even better it is not tested on animals, it is paraben free, lanolin free, colour free and all of the profits go straight back to NHS patient care which is amazing!

Overall, I am very happy with this new addition to the My Trusty Sunflower range, I genuinely cannot rate the body butter and hand cream enough! They also have a face and body oil as well as a subscription service so you can receive your My Trusty Sunflower products every month. Overall rating: ★, 5/5.

July Beauty Favourites

Monday, August 04, 2014

Usually I have around 6-8 favourites per month but this month I have a lot more than that - I have 13 beauty product favourites this month, with a couple of items left out otherwise I will not be able to fit them all in the photograph and the post would be even longer! July has been a month of beauty product finds that I have been using daily and loving!
Makeup: Oh gosh, were to start! Lets begin with Essence cosmetics, they have just launched in the UK and I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch event last month (check out my post, here) and I have been testing out all of the products I received. The two incredible, stand out products from Essence for me have been the All About Matt Fixing Powder and the Stay All Day Concealer, both of which I would highly recommend. Staying with the face products, I have been loving the W7 Matte Bronzer this month to give some warmth to my very pale skin. Now onto lips, there have been not one but two lip balm loves this month - the EOS Pomegranate balm and the Malibu Mango Lip Balm SPF30, I adore them both and they are super hydrating! I have a lipgloss favourite (I never thought I would type that), it is from W7 and it is a natural shade (shade number 05) and it makes my lips look fuller and glossy. The last makeup favourite is a Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in 'socialite' which is a gorgeous 'my lips but better shade', it is so easy to wear.

Skincare: I don't know whether to class this next favourite as a skincare product or as a makeup product but it is the amazing Decleor DD Cream which is an SPF30 lotion that is tinted so it does give light coverage - it is lovely and it adds some sun protection, it is perfect combined with the Essence Fixing Powder. I have two facial moisturiser favourites for the month on July, first up is the new Hydraluron Moisture Jelly which I won in an Indeed Labs twitter giveaway at the beginning of the month - I have been using it as my day cream and I love it! Secondly, the Nivea Sensitive Night Cream which is the best night cream I have ever tried. It is like a comforting blanket over my dry, sensitive skin!

Tools, Haircare + Body: I won a seven piece brush set from Spectrum Brushes this month and I love all of the brushes (I have already posted a review of the set, here) and my favourite brush has to be the blush brush, it is amazing for contouring and bronzer. Spectrum brushes are cruelty free which is fantastic! A haircare favourite of the month is the Moroccan Oil Frizz Control Spray which is a miracle product, it is the only product I have tried so far that actually reduces frizz and helps keep it at bay! The final favourite for July is the My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream which I have been using multiple times a day as a hand and foot cream - it is fantastic, super cheap and profits go to patient care, click here to read my full review. I have actually just used up the bottle, it is super quick to absorb and it smells heavenly.

There are all of my favourite beauty products for the month of July! Have you tried any of these products? What are your favourite beauty products currently?

Review: My Trusty Sunflower Cream

Friday, April 04, 2014
I saw this cream on Bloggers Required (it's similar to EtailPR and The Blogger Programme but you don't have to sign up, you can just apply to work with brands on the campaigns that are advertised) and I had to try it. I was very kindly sent the cream to review, for more information on my disclaimer, click here, honesty as always.
I have the *My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream in the Lavender scent (100ml, £6.99). This cream is not just any cream, it was developed my the Salisbury District Hospital as a moisturiser for patients but it is now available to purchase online. And the best thing, all the profits from this cream go straight back to patient care!

Now onto the product, firstly, I love the packaging - so simple but colourful, effective and eye catching. The cream comes in the lavender scent and also an unscented version. I picked the lavender version as the scent of lavender to me is just gorgeous and very appropriate for this time of the year. The cream itself is white and it looks pearlescent - metallic almost which is a bit unusual but you do not get glitter or shimmer on the skin thankfully.

The cream is thick but smooth and it applies really well to the skin. I have mainly been using it as a hand cream and it works really well as a thick hand cream but the best thing about the cream...it absorbs so quickly, within 60 seconds it will be fully absorbed, unless you just loads and loads of cream at once! The cream sinks in well and doesn't really leave any residue, it moisturised my hands very well and leaves the skin with a slight floral lavender scent. As well as a hand cream it is great for the nails/cuticles and also elbows etc - it is a great multi-use cream.

Overall, I am very impressed with this cream, it is really moisturising despite the fact that it absorbs really quickly. It has a nice scent, it doesn't irritate my skin (even my eczema - unless my eczema on my hand is very bad then I have to use a very basic face cream on my hand). I have tried a lot of hand creams such as the Soap and Glory hand food, a lot of the L'Occitane hand creams, one from Avene and more - my favourite hand cream ever is the Kiehls Hand Salve which is a miracle worker!! The My Trusty Little Sunflower Cream is a very good hand cream, it is just as good as the Soap & Glory and L'Occitane creams, in my opinion. ★★★★★, 5/5.
