Rimmel 60 Second Nail Polish: Swatches & Review

Monday, September 24, 2012
My Rimmel London 60 second nail polish collection is not very big, I have many other nail polishes but I am not faithful to one brand. Here are the swatches and mini reviews of the Rimmel 60 second nail polishes that I have. All swatches show are just one coat with no top coat.
Firstly, 320 Rapid Ruby. I love a good red nail polish (my favourite red is from Bourjois but it chips like nothing else). I love the bright red (almost orange red) shade of this polish and it applies really nicely. This shade is not streaky and with a good top coat (such as the infamous Seche Vite quick dry top coat) this polish lasts for a couple of days on me before wearing at the tips of my nails. Overall, the longevity of this shade is good but not great as it only lasts for me for about five days before chipping and it would show definite wear at the tips after five days.
Secondly, 285 Style Hunter. I bought this shade from asos, so I didn't see it in person and if I saw this shade in a store I may have bough it. Although unfortunately this shade looks nicer in the bottle than it does on my nails. This shade is very generic and unoriginal in my opinion and it is a little bit too girly for me as it does have shimmer in it which is not massively noticeable in the bottle. Overall, this shade applies nicely, it is not very streaky and it has good longevity - five to six days before I have to remove it.
Thirdly, 600 Deliciously Dark. This shade looks nice in the bottle but on the nails it is incredibly streaky - one of the streakiest nail polishes I own. The streakiness is a major negative point against this product but it does dry quickly (as do most of the other 60 second polishes). Overall, this polish is very streaky, it dries quickly and it has average longevity (about three days before chipping and wearing at the tips).
Lastly, 405 Rose Libertine. This shade is currently a free product when you buy something from the Rimmel Facebook store. I bought this shade from Asos and if I saw it in a store I wouldn't have bough it. This shade is too light and girly for me! Although despite the barbie look of this polish it actually applies nicely, it dries fairly quickly and it is not streaky, in my opinion. Overall, a great polish with good longevity but the shade is not really for me.

I'm now 20, which means...a birthday haul (of sorts)

Friday, August 17, 2012
I turned 20 years of age on the 15th August (I know, I'm getting old!). I received some beauty products, some chocolates (not good as I'm going on holiday on the 18th but I have remained strong and I haven't stuffed my face with chocolate...yet!). I had some family round on my birthday and I received my presents (and money!) but everything is really chaotic because of the holiday so it didn't really feel like a birthday. Also on my birthday the heavens opened and it rained really heavily for most of the day! Any way here are some of the things I received for my birthday!
The first thing I opened is a perfume from Burberry - Burberry Body, which is the latest Burberry fragrance I believe. I wanted this fragrance since it was released late last year and it hasn't disappointed. Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous, really luxurious, heavy and expensive!
The fragrance is just gorgeous! It is warm, feminine and sexy but it still remains light and very wearable. I would wear this during the day or night and it is just a divine scent. Also even though it is expensive, it is 85ml and the packaging is amazing (and really quite heavy).
I received another fragrance (I already had a lot of perfume anyway, so I could now open a fragrance shop!). I have never tried a Diesel fragrance before but it is surprising gorgeous. It is not as nice as the Burberry perfume, as you would expect but it is nice and floral/musky. I don't really like the packaging as to me it is a little bit tacky but overall it is a nice fragrance.
I have already proclaimed my love for this candle in a previous post (link here for my full review). So I wont go on too much about this candle but it is a divine scent and everyone who has smelt the candle loves it too. The candle smells amazing, the scent travels all around the house (more or less) and the scent is strong too. Overall, an fantastic candle and definitely worth the money!
I also received some little bits of things such as a Liz Earle Botanical Shine haircare duo, a Sanctuary Spa Intensive Shine Hair Mask and a really cute little notebook which says 'Keep Calm and Shop' on the front - perfect for me!

The Liz Earle shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and I cannot wait to try the shampoo/conditioner and I also can't wait to try the Sanctuary Spa hair butter too! Overall, quite a productive birthday!

A Week In Photographs #2

Sunday, August 05, 2012
The weather in the UK, well Manchester, over the past week or so has been really nice on the whole (apart from the thunder and rain yesterday)! And today there is so much cloud and a lot of thunder and lightening where I live - today is the first time I have actually seen a full lightening bolt! I have noticed that the squirrel (or Stuart as we call him) has been a regular visitor to our back garden - I managed to take a lot of cute photographs of him while he ate the nuts meant for the birds! As well as the nice weather I have also been loving my Kringle Candle Wax Tarts/Potpourri and my Kringle Candle American Flag Burner (only £4). I have used up the  Kringle Candle Wax Tarts in the scents: 'Maple Sugar' which is really nice and authentic smelling and 'Kringle cookie' which is not the nicest in my opinion as it just smells like cinnamon muffins and potpourri to me. The most recent Kringle Candle Wax Tart that I have been burning is the scent 'Hot Chocolate' which actually smells like a mix of hot cocoa, chocolate and chocolate brownies - gorgeous! The 'Hot Chocolate' scent disperses really well, it is a strong scent and even after the wax has hardened again the scent is still noticeable for about two to three hours!
I went to the Trafford Centre last week (28th) for some last minute holiday shopping and we drove past Manchester United's grounds (Old Trafford) and it had the Olympic rings on the front so I thought I would take a photograph of it - I only had my HTC Sensation with me so the photograph is not amazing (and the car was moving!). The second photograph is while driving home from the Trafford Centre and there were Olympic banners on the street lights. The photograph above also shows the Beetham Tower which is a hotel/bar/conference centre in the centre of Manchester and it is the tallest building in Manchester. It also has the UK's highest living space and it is the UK's tallest building outside of London!
As well as the lovely weather and Kringle candle goodness I have also been loving the Olympics! I have particularly been loving the rowing, boxing, diving, gymnastics (especially the men's gymnastics and the bronze medal in the men's gymnastics!) and the shooting was great too (and not just because GB won a gold medal!). Although I really do not like the way the BBC commentators have been really quite negative towards some of the British athletes, in my opinion by saying that they are lucky to be in the games etc! Although overall, the games have been great so far - apart from the shocking defeat against South Korea in football last night!

Hope you had a great week! x

Product Review: Caudalie Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Fluid!

Friday, August 03, 2012
I received this product as a free sample with a HQHair order I think and I have only just got round to using it as I have so many skincare samples! I love Caudalie products as they are really gentle, they don't irritate my skin and the work really well with my skin (sensitive/dry). This product also has a scent, it is a fresh floral scent and even though this moisturiser is scented it does not irritate my skin. This product is a day moisturiser, it is suitable for all skin types, it contains SPF 15 and it is tinted. I did not expect this product to be tinted but it has a definite beige/pale skin tone tint to it.  I find that this moisturiser is not moisturising enough for my dry skin so I have to mix it with my Simple Rich Moisturiser. Upon application this moisturiser glides over the skin so smoothly and it leaves my skin hydrated, smooth and because of the tint I feel like this moisturiser evens out my skin tone slightly too. Another great product from Caudalie!

Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick: Totally Twig

Monday, July 30, 2012
I have three Avon Extra lasting Lipsticks and this shade 'totally twig' is the first one I bought and I was hooked from there! Firstly, the packaging of these lipsticks is really nice, sleek and lightweight - great for travelling. There are also many shades from nudes and pink to brights and dark shades. I have three fairly neutral shades including: totally twig (rosy brown), rose creme (bright rose pink) and Cappuccino (beige, peach nude).
The application of this lipstick is fantastic, it has a really smooth silky texture which makes it glide onto my lips with amazing ease. This product is also really quite pigmented, I only need one swipe on my lips for amazing pigmentation and colour pay off.
Now, the shade, I would describe this shade as a gorgeous rosy brown. I love rosy brown lipsticks, they are the shades that I gravitate towards so I have quite a lot of the same in my (fairly large, but not large enough) lipstick collection. The shade is great for everyday and while I am wearing it I am not worrying if it is on my teeth or if it has worn off horribly as this product lasts for quite a while on me. I can wear this lipstick comfortably all day but after about six hours the lipsticks is just a tint on my lips. This lipstick wears off my lips really nicely, it does not leave my lips looking patchy and it is slightly glossy. The only minor negative for this product is that it can highlight lines/flakiness slightly and the full price of this lipstick is a little bit high (£7) but it is always on offer (and available on eBay).

Overall, the packaging is great, the application is fantastic and easy, the shade is gorgeous and the longevity/wear is great - just as good as my MAC lipsticks! A fantastic product from Avon!
