DegustaBox - September 2019

Thursday, October 17, 2019
It's that time of the month again to review the amazing DegustaBox and the September box is one of the most varied yet! If you want to get an idea of the range of products included in the monthly boxes, check out the rest of my subscription box reviews. If you want to purchase a DegustaBox for yourself or someone else then use the code DTPL4 to get £5 off your first box.

*DegustaBox - September 2019
Each month the box has a different theme and the theme for the September box was 'family sharing and home cooking' which is such a great idea, especially at this time of the year. The variety in this month box is fantastic as the items range from children's snacks, cooking ingredients and sweet treats to on the go snacks, alcohol free wine and lower calorie snacks. Sadly, there weren't as many vegan items in the box as there have been in the previous boxes this year.
*MilkyBar Buttons (55p each)
Let's start with some of the small snacks included in the box and the first is one I would have loved growing up, Milkybar Buttons. I used to love MilkyBar and Dairy Milk buttons as a lunchbox snack! There should be two 30g bags on buttons in each box this month so there's more to share.

*CHUM Fruit Bites (79p each)
My favourite snack from the box has to be the CHUM fruit bites - I love any kind of dried or baked fruit snack as they are sweet and moreish but healthy too. They are fantastic on the go or work suitable healthy snacks and I cannot recommend this brand enough. They are 100% fruit so they are suitable for vegans and they're gluten free. I will definitely be buying some of these in the future!
*Hartley's Strawberry Jelly Pots (55p each)
Another fruity and low calorie snack are the Hartley's jelly pots which came as a pack of three within the box. I'm always looking for low calorie snacks as I do try to keep my calories within a certain limit most of the time so these are perfect little sweet treats.

*Boka Cereal Bars (79p each)
Still staying on the theme of healthy and lower calorie snacks are the cereal bars from Boka. The bars are low in sugar, fat and they are under 100 calories each which is fantastic for those looking to keep on eye on calorie consumption.

*Alpen Protein Bars (£2.69)
Lastly for the heathy snacks and it's a pack of protein bars from Alpen. There are two flavours of the Alpen bars in the box including: berries and yoghurt and chocolate. They aren't vegan as far as I am aware so I passed these onto my mum and she liked both of the flavours!
*Appy Kids Co Yummy Bakes (£1 each)
Moving onto the children's snacks and the cooking ingredients included in the September box. The Appy Kids Co Yummy Bakes are raspberry flavoured baked bars that don't contain any artificial colour, flavours or preservatives. The instant I saw these bakes in the box, I knew that my friends son would love them as he is obsessed with Paw Patrol!

*Epicure Zhoug Pesto (£2.99)
Next up is a bit of an unusual item and it's a new take on the classic Italian pesto as it contains coriander and green chilli whereas the original version of pesto is made of pine nuts, basil and cheese. I adore pesto, it's one of my favourite pasta sauces and it can be made vegan very easily. I haven't tried this one yet but it sounds very...interesting.
*Riso Gallo Risotto Rice (£2.29)
Another Italian favourite and one that might actually work pretty well with the unusual pesto is a traditional risotto rice. I love risotto, especially with mushrooms and cheese but it's something I don't make very often as it is a little time consuming but I think I will have to give it a go very soon!

*Very Lazy Garlic (£1.85)
One of my favourite items from the box has to be the Very Lazy garlic as it's an item I've purchased a few time already as it's very convenient! The garlic paste is perfect for lazy people, like myself, who don't want to spend time peeling and chopping garlic, especially as I like to add a lot of garlic! I'll definitely continue to buy more in the future.
*Eisberg Sparkling Alcohol Free Rose (£4)
As I am a DegustaBox ambassador, I receive items that others may not (depending on which box you choose) but in the September there wasn't an alcoholic drink - we received an alcohol free rose which is fantastic. I don't drink very often so an alcohol free option is fantastic and a great addition to the box.

*Lucozade Pink Lemonade (£1.99)
Last but not least for my belated review of the September DegustaBox is the zero sugar pink lemonade flavoured Lucozade. It's such a nostalgic drink as everyone in the 90's and early 00's seem to drink it at school but I never saw the appeal. I received both of original and pink lemonade flavours and I definitely prefer the pink lemonade option!

What do you think of the September DegustaBox? Have you tried any of these items?
