Flux Undies: Period Proof Underwear

Saturday, January 05, 2019
If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know that I never shy away from more 'taboo' topics and for me, menstruation and periods shouldn't be considered 'taboo' as it's something that happens to over half of the worlds population! Today's post is all about a new and more environmentally friendly period product that I've been loving recently!

*Flux Undies - Bikini (£28)
Flux Undies is a brand that has created a range of simple, no-fuss period proof underwear that is a fantastic, comfortable and less noticeable alternative to traditional pads and tampons. The underwear styles all have in-built moisture wicking, absorbent fabric which can hold four tampons worth and it can be worn for up to 12 hours. I opted for the bikini style but there are others available including; high-waist, thong, boyshort and a detachable option too.
I love the look of the bikini style which is why I picked it but the boyshort option is another style I love! I didn't know how I'd feel about using a product like this as I haven't tried any 'period proof' underwear before and I was a little nervous as I didn't want any leaks. My initial impression was that the material is very thick and it felt a little strange but while on, it's so comfortable, it feels like slightly thick underwear but in a secure, comfortable and discreet way.

The first time I tried the period proof underwear was on a lighter day just to make sure that it worked for me without any kind of crime scene style accident! However, I had nothing to worry about as it was effective, comfy and when I had to switch back to pads the next day, I missed the comfort and 'normality' of the Flux Undies as it made me feel less like I was on my period as let's be honest, pads aren't very comfortable. Overall, I cannot recommend them enough and I definitely need more pairs!

Would you try 'period proof' Flux Undies?

  16. I really want to try these. I've not been using tampons since having a baby & pads are so uncomfortable. This sounds like a brilliant alternative that I didn't even consider until now!

  19. I can't imagine these would work well if you have heavy periods though, but if you have light-normal flow then I can bet they're good x
