Makeup Challenge With Yorkshire Dentistry

Tuesday, February 03, 2015
I was contacted a couple of weeks ago about a blogger makeup challenge with The Centre of Advanced Dentistry Yorkshire which involved creating makeup looks to make the teeth look whitener or to draw attention to the lips/mouth. Yorkshire Dentistry are leaders cosmetic dentistry and offer a range of dental services such as teeth whitening which is one of their most popular treatments. I was kindly send a few products to help with the challenge including three of the *Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers in Shooting Star, Across The Universe and Aurora as well as a *Fashionista Blush in Rose Shine Shade 1 and the *Maybelline The Falsies Feather Look Volume Express Mascara in Brown.

I chose to create a daytime look and an evening/party look! Both of which, in my opinion, draw attention to the mouth/lips and make teeth look whiter and brighter. You can see all of the products I used for each look above. The daytime makeup look is all about radiant, glowing skin, fluttery lashes and a glossy nude lip; the second features bronzed skin, bold liner and an even bolder red lip!
My first look is all about radiance and fresh glowing shades! I started with the Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation which gives such as youthful, plumped look to the skin. Sticking with the glowing theme, I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Creamy Beige as an all over natural shade and the Essence Big Eyes Pencil in the inner corner, brow bone and lower waterline for a bright eyed, wide awake look. After curling my lashes, I applied the Maybelline mascara in Brown which is much softer than a traditional black mascara. To finish I applied the Fashionista blush on the apples and backs of my cheeks for a fresh sweep of colour. Lastly, for the lips I used the Rimmel Apocalips in Shooting Star to create a glossy, peachy lip.

I love this look for the daytime, I think it is so youthful, fresh and perfect to beat the winter blues. I feel as though such a radiant complexion and glossy lip makes the teeth look whiter and it just makes everything look perkier and glowing!
Now onto my evening/party look, although everyone could definitely rock this look during the day! I used the same Burberry foundation for this look as well as the Essence pencil. On the cheeks I used the Smashbox Baked Lights for a bronzed, pink glow. For the brows on each look I used a Real Techniques angled brush and my Laura Mercier Eyeshadow Trio which contains an amazing ashy dark brown; I love strong brows, it makes the face look more structured and makes any makeup look appear neater and polished.

Firstly, the liner, even though I want the attention on the mouth/lips, I think the look needs to be balanced out with the winged liner. I used the amazing Colorsport Rapid-Gro Liner which is perfect for creating a thin and precise flick. I have fairly deep set eyes so creating a wing that doesn't get lost in the crease or look wonky can be a little difficult but practise makes perfect! I used the new Benefit Roller Lash Mascara for this look and I really like it, it makes my lashes look more volumised and lengthened.

Now for the main part of the look, the lips! I used the Rimmel Apocalips Lacquer in Across The Universe all over the lips, then blot and go in with the same product and a small lip brush to create a neat edge. The shade is blue/cool toned so it makes the teeth look whiter! Use a touch of foundation or concealer around the edges of the lips if you make a small mistake; it will also make the lips look so much neater.

There you have my daytime and evening makeup looks to draw more attention to the lips and to make the teeth look whiter and brighter! Also I think both looks would be perfect for valentines day!

Have you tried any of these products? Have you had your teeth whitened or do you have any tips to make them look whiter?

  11. I have been dying to try the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers! The colors you used in your makeup looks look very nice! :D I have been trying to find a nice cool-toned red. Thanks for sharing the tip on getting a neat appearance for wearing lipsticks. I never thought about using foundation/concealer to clean up a stain mistake.
