Christmas at The Body Shop!

Wednesday, November 26, 2014
I was invited to The Body Shop christmas event in the Trafford Centre a couple of weeks ago but sadly I could not  attend, however a campaign popped up on the website Bloggers Required about reviewing The Body Shop Christmas products - I applied immediately and was accepted! The Body Shop Christmas range is always gorgeous, festive and pretty so I was so excited when these items were delivered.

I will start with my favourite item from the products I have which is the *Body Shop Glazed Apple Hand Cream (£3.50, 30ml). Firstly the price is amazing and secondly the packaging is so cute and festive! I do love apple scented products and this one is no exception, although it does smell more like sweets/candy than I was expecting - to me it smells like sour apple sweets which some people may like and others may not, I personally really like it! The Body Shop hand creams are one of the very few products that I haven't tried from The Body Shop but I am so impressed. The hand cream absorbs so quickly (within about 30 seconds it will be fully absorbed), it is so hydrating and best of all it doesn't irritate the massive patch of eczema I have on my hand. I cannot rate this product enough, I will definitely have to look into The Body Shop hand creams ASAP. Overall rating: ★★★★★, 5/5!

Next up are two lip products, the *Body Shop Lip & Cheek Doll (£10) which is the same Body Shop lip and cheek stain but in new packaging which seems like a bit of a rip off in my opinion as before I read the full description I thought it was a new product! I also don't understand what the doll packaging has to do with christmas. I have tried the body shop lip/cheek stain already and this one has the same problems - it is ridiculously patchy, it doesn't apply evenly at all and it wears off unevenly! Sadly, I cannot recommend this product. Overall rating: ★☆☆☆☆, 1/5.

The second lip product is far better, it is the *Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Lip Balm (£4). This is the first product I have tried from the 'frosted cranberry' range which is surprising as it is a range that appears every year and everyone seems to love it. The lip balm leaves the lips so smooth, moisturised and it gives a slight red tint to the lips which is perfect for this time of the year, especially if you are a little scared of a full on red lip as I am then this tinted lip balm is a great way of rocking the red without the upkeep! Overall rating: ★★★★★, 5/5.

The last makeup item I have from the Body Shop Christmas range is the *Body Shop Sparkling Black Mascara (£10) which is a regular non-waterproof black mascara but it has tiny iridescent shimmers in it. I love the formula of this mascara, it is natural with a couple of coats but it can be built up. It gives me gorgeous fluttery everyday lashes. However, I would have preferred a waterproof formula and the shimmer doesn't transfer very well to the lashes, it is only really visible in certain lighting and close up. Overall rating: ★★★☆☆,  3/5. I would personally give it more stars as it is a really nice mascara but the whole point of this one, in my opinion, is the shimmer.

Last but not least is a product that the Body Shop is famous for - body butters. I have the *Body Shop Vanilla Brûlée Body Butter (£13, 200ml) which is one of many I have tried over the years. This scent is just gorgeous, so comforting and homely, I LOVE anything vanilla scented! The body butter isn't as thick as others I have tried but it works so well. It applies smoothly and leaves the skin very moisturised and smooth without being sticky or heavy. Overall rating: ★★★★★, 5/5.

Overall, a little bit of a mixed bag of products, in my opinion, but overall, I am happy with the products I received, especially the hand cream (I am definitely going to stock up on these in the sales). The lip balm and the body butter are also fantastic. The mascara to me is gorgeous but it is a shame about the shimmer. The Body Shop have so many gorgeous gifts this year!

Have you tried any of these products? What products have you picked up from the christmas range?
