The Throwback Tag - are you a 90's child?

Thursday, July 03, 2014
I am quite nostalgic about the 90's, as a 90's child there are always photographs on Facebook about 90's kids - it was a great decade to grow up in, in the UK. I saw this tag post on the blog, Little Law a while ago and I knew I had to do it! Who does't love a bit of 90's nostalgia!

Here are the questions! If you want to do this tag, just copy the questions below and leave the links to your throwback tag post in the comments.

What year were you born in?

1992

Do you have any pictures of yourself from when you were younger? If you do, show them.

We have a lot of photographs of myself and my family, especially when I was a toddler. My auntie also has photographs. It is great to look back through some of them although not all of them - why did my mum think that clown like Disney leggings and Minnie Mouse sunglasses was a good combo!

What TV shows did you grow up watching?

Sabrina the teenage witch, The Simpsons, Goosebumps, Hey Arnold, Kim Possible, Scoobydoo, The wild thornberries, The Amanda Show, Recess, Lizzie McGuire, that's so raven, drake & josh, kenan & kel, saved by the bell, art attack, are you afraid of the dark, power rangers, pingu, postman pat - yeah, we watched a lot of tv! I personally loved Sabrina the teenage witch, art attack and that's so raven.

What did you want to be when you grow up and do you still want to be that?

I didn't know or even think about what I wanted to be, is that weird, it probably is....while in year 5 (about 9 years old) I wanted to be an immunologist - yeah, I was that kid, always wanting to learn and ask questions.

What were your favourite toys to play with?

There were so many amazing toys when I was a child, not just the computer and gameboy we had but things like furbys, swing ball, barbies, roller skates, twister and playing curby. I also love the horrible history books. Oh and don't get me started on my tamagotchi, that was the only stresses we had as children of the 90's and it was a life and death struggle!

What was the 'cool' thing to have during your childhood?

Slap bracelets, Pokemon cards, pens in every colour, password journal, having your ears pierced and aliens, that were supposed to give birth...still waiting.

What's the most embarrassing thing that you can remember doing?

Oh gosh, there were so many moments but the main one was falling in school in front of everyone and it was down a small set of stairs.

Songs you loved to listen to as a child.

Here are some of the bands I used to love as a child - spice girls, backstreet boys, nsync, Britney Spears, hear say and any kind of Brit or euro pop! Does anyone remember the crazy frog song or the ketchup song! *goes to YouTube immediately*

What was one funny thing you dressed up as when you were younger?

I always used to dress up as Aladdin (strange for a girl I know) as my dad bought an intricate Aladdin like outfit for me from India.

Tell a funny story of something you remember happening when you were young.

Myself, my sister and some friends from our street went to see Jurassic park 3 at the Roxy cinema and when we got back home, we all started digging the garden hoping we would find fossils!

Are there any special things you've kept from when you were a child?

I have kept some of my stuffed teddies, beanie babies and little keepsakes since I was a baby which are in my memory box. Also I have a carved wooden elephant that my dad bought back from a business trip to India when I was a toddler.

What was something weird you used to do as a child?

I used to read through my books/school notes and write all of the information neatly into another notebook with diagrams and facts - as I said, I love to learn!

What's the scariest thing you remember that happened to you when you were younger?

Getting vaccinations, doing presentations in front of my class and loosing a toy in a supermarket!

How is the world now different from how it was like when you were a child?

As a child the only stresses were looking after your tamagotchi pet and deciding what crayons you were going to use. Now there are so many stresses and pressures in terms of what I'm going to do now that I have graduated from university and also body image. I loved growing up in the 90's, it was all about pop music, playing on the street with your friends, water fights, weird and wonderful toys and cheesy tv shows. Someone needs to build a time machine, stat!

Are you also a 90's child? What were your favourite things as a child? Feel free to do this tag and leave your links below.
