October Empties: Haircare!

Tuesday, October 30, 2012
I have used up quite a few haircare products this month, even though my hair is nine inches shorter than it was in August. I have used to two shampoos, two conditioners, one hair mask and a hair treatment sample! This post, for those of you that may be unfamiliar with empties blog posts, is a summary of the products (in this case haircare products) that I have used up over the month of October and my thoughts of the products. Lets get started!

Firstly, the shampoos; VO5 Give Me Moisture Shampoo (£1.99, 250ml). I bought this shampoo from superdrug purely because it was £1.99 - I don't need more shampoos as I have some many. This shampoo smells quite nice, it lathers well and it leaves my hair smoother and clean. Although I don't find it really moisturising which is a bit disappointing as the main claim of this shampoo is to moisturise/hydrate. The second shampoo I have used up this month is the Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo (£16.50, 250ml). I have used up a smaller sample of this shampoo before and I do really like this shampoo as it lathers really well and it leaves my skin smooth, soft, more manageable and hydrated - although it is far too expensive in my opinion and I am not too keen on the scent.

Now, onto the conditioners that I have used up this month, firstly, Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Express Treatment Conditioner (£3.29, 180ml). Firstly, this conditioner has the longest name of any other haircare product! Secondly, I love this product! This conditioner is one of the very few conditioners that really hydrate and smooth my hair without weighing it down - and it is really cheap! The conditioner is also really good and it is the Umberto Giannini Intense Beauty Conditioner although this product is not widely available anymore unfortunately as it is a great product. The final conditioner is one which was included in a beauty box a couple of months ago and it is the Wen by Chaz Dean Sweet Almond Mint Conditioner. This brand is not well know or widely available in the UK and in my opinion that's not a bag thing! Firstly, I really didn't like the scent; the scent belongs in a toothpaste not a conditioner. Also the conditioner wasn't that...conditioning, I had to use a lot of product each time to make my hair feel smooth, detangled and conditioned.

Now onto the final two product; first is a daily hair mask from Avon - Avon Cherry Blossom Daily Hair Mask. I bought this mask a while ago via a Avon representative as it was on offer - this product isn't widely available now although you may be able to find it on Ebay. This mask is no where near as conditioning as I expected/needed it to be - it is not a hair mask in my opinion and I have been using it as an average conditioner. The second is a sample split ends treatment from Tresemme - Tresemme Split Remedy Leave In Treatment (£5.69, 125ml) which lasted longer than I thought it would but I wouldn't buy it full size. I applied this product to the ends of my hair when it is wet/damp then in the morning I find that this product made my hair feel matte, dirty and gross! I did not like the way this product made my hair feel so I promptly tied my hair up and washed it that day!
